We had a “Painting with Paper” class at The Studio yesterday and so many people created beautiful art.  We had flowers and fish and elephants and buffaloes and foxes and roosters and more!  What a fun day.

paper-paintig-3Denise Kupiszewski from The Mud Peddler in Shepherdstown came to teach us this fun form of art.  And the good news is she agreed to come back next month so if you missed out this time you still have an opportunity.  Keep an eye out on The Studio calendar for the next class as well as other great classes coming up.  Click here for the schedule.

Hydrangeas

I have worked on several hydrangea paintings this week in preparation for a private Paint Party coming up tomorrow with a good friend and a large group of her friends from Lake Frederick.  I’m looking forward to it.  Part of the fun of hosting Paint Parties is coming up with interesting subject matter that can be simplified so that even people who have never painted before can create a successful painting.  That’s what we are good at doing at The Studio and we love it!  (And please don’t forget to vote for us in the poll.  You can vote each day.  Click here and vote in categories # 3, 29, 49, 97, and 105.  Many thanks!)

Great work everyone.  I hope to see you at this summer’s final session of Art Camp for ages 8-12 on July 25-28.  More information here.

Path Through the Flowers

Having a few days off for the Independence Day holiday let me catch up on a few paintings that I have been wanting to do. This one is from a couple of photos that I took last year while out at Shenandoah River State Park.  “Path Through the Flowers” is an acrylic on canvas measuring 18″ x 14″ and is available at The Studio.  SOLD!

Camp 2 Day 1 Manet Age 8-12We started the 2nd week of Art Camp studying Edouard Manet and painting his Yellow Rose.  These kids did a GREAT job with this one.  First we created our own color wheels and talked about color mixing and that allowed us to get a good idea of how to make our paintings look like Manet’s.  Today we study Monet.
