After the Wednesday morning Art Class yesterday I drove 7 hours to Perrysburg OH for an EQ8 Workshop.   This is the quilt design software that I have been using for about a year and a half and I was finally able to get to a class.  I was hoping that after using it that long I wouldn’t be disappointed and I was not!  I already learned so much today that will help me and I can’t wait for the next two days of class.  Plus I am meeting so many other quilters from all over the United States and sharing stories and ideas. This is such a great treat for me!

Drum Roll Please!!!!! Just look at these amazing quilts that these young Sewing Campers made this week at The Studio. They are just beautiful…and these girls did a great job learning to use a sewing machine. Can you believe that only one had ever used a machine before???? And they did all this in just 6 hours (3 hours on Monday and Tuesday mornings). Great work quilters. We hope you will keep sewing!

Jelly Roll Quilts

I was asked recently to offer a class on easy Jelly Roll quilts. We have bought these cute jelly rolls with 2 1/2″ x 42″ strips, loving the mix of fabrics, but haven’t figured out just what to make with them. So I have worked up a couple of quilts with some easy jell roll patterns. We’ll have a daylong workshop soon at The Studio where you can make a jelly roll quilt choosing from one of two or three designs. And the best part is you will get all the patterns so you can make more at home!

An unexpected and delightful surprise in Hamilton was the Missouri Quilt Museum located in an old multi-story school house. There were some amazing displays there from quilts to a machine collection and a miniature doll quilt collection. And the best part was the young man who was there to sell the tickets. His family runs the museum and he was a wealth of information. And he was thrilled to show us the quilt he had made. At 12 years old he is already on his way to be a terrific quilter.

Last Saturday a group of quilters left on a Fabric Acquisition Road Trip to Missouri. We have had so much fun so far stopping at many, many quilt shops along the way as well as other roadside attractions. I thought I should catch up on what we have done so far. We went from Virginia to Ohio for our first stop and saw lots of farmland, windmills, barns and barn quilts.

We have seen so many odd things along the way…including the mobile Baptismal running along the interstate!
