20151009_123514-1I had an unplanned art lesson on Friday during the Open Studio session at The Studio.  My friend, Phil, with Caledonia Bed & Breakfast sent some guests over to paint.  This mother and daughter were delightful.  We had a nice visit while Hannah painted this marvelous little painting.  I hope to see them again when they are visiting our area.  Thanks Phil for thinking of The Studio as a destination for these two.

An art class demo that needs just a little more work

I get questions all the time about “daily painting”.  The most often asked is “Do you paint every day?”  And the answer is “almost”.  When I first joined the daily  painting movement I did paint every day. And I completed a different small painting everyday….for a long time.  I did this for about 4 years.  Then I started working on larger paintings and while I painted every day I didn’t complete one each day.

But then I started offering other types of classes besides painting so it required me to create in other formats (like crocheting, multi-media, etc.) to prepare for classes so now my answer is that I create something everyday.  It may not always be a painting like it was in the beginning but I do something creative each and every day.

Right now I have a couple of paintings that I am working on that still need a little work to be finished.  Here are a couple.  You will hopefully see the finished paintings soon.

Little Olivia

Now she is 8 and she came to me this week for a couple of private lessons so that she could paint “Cat”.  I was thrilled at how much she remembered from our time painting together before.

Here is the reference photo we used.  Olivia did a marvelous job with Cat.  It looks terrific.

Private lessons are available for children or adults by contacting kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com .

CAM07564A few days ago I posted Geraniums in the Window (see it here) and said that I needed to touch it up a little  more.  I did that last night.  I darkened the shadow under the window and added some texture to the wall.  Also, I hit the flowers with a little more light.  Now it’s finished.

Pats Portrait 1The students in the adult art classes all work on different subject matter.  I like for them to paint what they want so that in the end they have a painting that they will enjoy or that they will give to friends and family.  Pat is one of my students that paints many things for her family members and has done many wonderful paintings for them.  Recently she completed this fabulous portrait for her daughter and she recently sent this photo showing where she hung the work.

CAM06677Now Pat is on to another wonderful painting – Daisies!

Nice job Pat.  I know your family has a long list of things they want you to paint for them.  Keep up the good work!
