20150417_100723_resizedI am working on a commission of a series of small fruit paintings. Here are the first ones.  I showed you the cherries earlier this week and the change in background color.  (See it here.)

Now here they are almost finished along with the two apple paintings.  Each is 5″x7″, acrylic on canvas.  Now I need to work on the two pear and two grape paintings. Then I will put the final touches on all of them.  Look for them soon!

Changing Cherries

cHERRIESSometimes when I paint I have to make a change.  I started these little cherry paintings with a darker background and then changed it to lighten up the top part of the background.  Often adjustments need to be made after you start.  The trick is being able to see what changes are needed…and that just comes with practice.

An art class demo that needs just a little more work

I get questions all the time about “daily painting”.  The most often asked is “Do you paint every day?”  And the answer is “almost”.  When I first joined the daily  painting movement I did paint every day. And I completed a different small painting everyday….for a long time.  I did this for about 4 years.  Then I started working on larger paintings and while I painted every day I didn’t complete one each day.

But then I started offering other types of classes besides painting so it required me to create in other formats (like crocheting, multi-media, etc.) to prepare for classes so now my answer is that I create something everyday.  It may not always be a painting like it was in the beginning but I do something creative each and every day.

Right now I have a couple of paintings that I am working on that still need a little work to be finished.  Here are a couple.  You will hopefully see the finished paintings soon.

January 2015 1st Saturday Paint Party

The 1st Saturday Paint Party yesterday was painting fruit in miniature.  And boy, did everyone do a great job!  These turned out so good.  We worked in acrylic on 6″x6″ stretched canvas.

Each month on the 1st Saturday we have a Paint Party where we try something different each time.  The great part is that all supplies are included so all you need to do is make a reservation and show up.  Then after a couple of hours you will go home with a wonderful completed painting!  Why don’t you join us next time – February 7th at 3 pm?
