Art Camp begins with our first session on Monday for ages 5-7. The thenme for Art Camp I is “Animal Affair”. Our young painters will create several animal themed paintings on Monday and Tuesday. Sandy is Lincoln’s sitter. She has been with us even before Lincoln so she has been a family friend for a very long time. Recently she was admiring a specialty quilt that I made for another friend and I told her I would make one for her that featured something she loved. Did I mention that Sandy is an amazing photograper? Well, she is. So I wanted to make her quilt with a camera theme. I asked her to send me some photographs she had taken….some of her favorites. Having received them I started laying out a design that would include a camera and film and this is what I came up with. The camera and film roll are applique. The black and white film is pieced fabric made to look like film. I printed Sandy’s photos on EQ8 Satin Printable Fabric Sheets. The border fabric with cameras I got through Joann’s. This quilt took way more time in planning than I anticipated but I was happy with the results. And I think Sandy liked it!

I’ve written before about my student, Dianne, who brings her out of town friends to The Studio when they visit so they can paint a memory to take home. (See more here.) This week she brought her friends from Florida, Mary and Rick, who painted these lovely canvases. Great work!!!! Come visit and paint with us again soon.

Look what Lincoln gave me for Mother’s Day! It’s a “new to me” sewing cabinet that I have been wanting or awhile. We lucked out and found one on Marketplace up in Pennsylvania. I can’t wait to get the insert for the machine and then it will be perfect!

We had a terrific Mother’s Day weekend with my sister, Suzanne, and my niece, Alexis. We did lots of fun things while they were visiting but the most fun was painting these denim jackets with the Georgia Bulldog. They look great! Nice work girls. I know you will enjoy wearing these.

Here’s Tilly!!!! She’s our favorite 91 year old student. She completed these two paintings over the past couple of weeks. Isn’t she adorable???!!! We love her…and next month we will help her celebrate her 92nd birthday. Can you believe that?!
