Like any good quilter I couldn’t bear to discard the cat cutout from the dog and cat applique that I posted yesterday. See it here. I didn’t need it for yesterday’s project but he was too cute to throw away. So this morning I thought I would rework a sweatshirt and turn it into a cute “Cat Cardigan”. And here it it! I bought a bunch of sweatshirts several years ago to do another project and never did use them all so I dug one out and pulled some fabric from the stash for the bottom and trim and appliqued the little cat on it. I think it works!!! So here is another idea for applique for those who are coming to the class in January. Learn more about the class and be sure to sign up for it here.

I mentioned yesterday that I had another Jelly Roll applique that I was working on as an example for an upcoming class. Here it is…a little Best Friends wall hanging. This is just an example of what you can do with machine applique. We will have a class at The Studio on Saturday, January 7th at 1 pm if you would like to learn this fun technique. There is so much you can do with it from quilts to wall hangings to jackets to jeans. Applique works for a lot of different projects. Come learn how. Click here for more information and to register. Space is limited so don’t wait too long to get in on it!

These are fun and give you an opportunity to make something specific to you or the person you are going to gift with your work! Watch for it!

So while he was visiting for Thanksgiving he came back yesterday to Open Studio to finish up. Lincoln was sure glad he did. We think he did a great job painting it, don’t you???!!!! Nice work!

We celebrated Jordyn’s birthday yesterday morning at The Studio. She (Jordyn is the cutie sitting in the middle) and 8 cousins and friends came out from Northern Virginia to paint this cute little Chickadee. Didn’t they do great???!!!! I met Jordyn at Capon Springs at the art retreat I did there recently and they painted with me a couple of times there. When her parents asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday she said paint with Miss Kelly! What a delight! Thanks Jordyn for coming to The Studio and bringing your friends.
