Happy Creek in Plein AirA few weeks ago we painted down by Happy Creek en plein air (outside in open air).  It was a fun morning and I got a good start to a little landscape.  (See that post here.) 20190511_180914.jpgLincoln and I spent the day at Shenandoah National Park at the “Painting in the Park Seminar: Nature as a Starting Place” with Kevin H. Adams.  Kevin was the 2017 Artist in Residence for the park. (Read and see more about that here.) The seminar focused on the challenges of plein air painting with the focus on landscapes.  While the weather was a little damp and cool….and the clouds dropped down low on the top of the mountain so we couldn’t even see our subject for a little while, it was still a terrific seminar.

 

Kevin offered tips and suggestions to improve painting in plein air.

And being in the park is always nice.  There is so much material so I took many reference photos that I hope to paint soon.

I was delighted to be invited to hold a Paint Party for the 21st Faith Community Nurse/Health Ministry Retreat  at Cacapon Resort State Park in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia last night.  Thanks Kim Davis for having The Studio over to lead such a wonderful group.  They were so much fun and created these beautiful little Apple Blossom Tree paintings.  And what a lovely setting the state park is there!  Beautiful!
