We made a visit to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens on the Ashley yesterday.  What a beautiful place even in the overcast day.

I can’t imagine how beautiful it must be in  the bright sunshine.

It would be worth a visit during the spring.  So many old oaks and tons of camellias blooming.  Lovely!

Flagler College

We made a stop by Flagler College yesterday…formerly Hotel Ponce de Leon.  The college is named for Henry Morrison Flagler, a Gilded Age industrialist, railroad pioneer and entrepreneur who partnered with John D. Rockefeller to found the Standard Oil Company.  In 1888, Flagler built the Hotel Ponce de León, his first in a series of luxury resorts along Florida’s east coast. A masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture and the first major poured-in-place concrete building in the United States is now known as Ponce de Leon Hall. A National Historic Landmark, it serves as the centerpiece for Flagler College.

Once again, you can find art everywhere you go. Yesterday I was at The World Golf Hall of Fame in St Augustine, Florida, and yes, there was art!  Every class that is inducted features a painting with the inductees.  This is the first one…the class of 1974.  The art was really nice.

Each painting is displayed in a gallery that lead to another display of bronze plaques of each inductee. 20181227_181051.jpgThe museum was well done with lots of interactive displays.

Well done.

20181222_150834.jpgAt our Kids Make Gifts workshop yesterday these girls made these beautiful gifts.  They created two unique gift bags – one with a tree and one with a snowman, a snowman candle holder, a mini Snowflake painting and a painted tin with wreathes.  Terrific!  And we did it all in an hour and a half!  Way to go girls!

Tuck

20181221_133350.jpgI’ve been working on some commissions the last few days. I can’t show some of them because they are gifts for Christmas so I’ll show them next week.  But this is Tuck and his dad knows all about this painting so I feel like it’s ok to show him.  He’s a cutie.  He stopped by to visit a few weeks ago and he was as adorable as his photo.  I love doing Pet Portraits!
