I love Philadelphia.  I am just back from a quick trip there with some lovely ladies.  We did a tour of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Sunday and then saw the Barnes Collection on Monday.  I have so much to say about the Barnes that I will do that in another post very soon.

But Philly, now there’s a city!  If you haven’t been you must make the effort to go.  So much to see and do.

Not your typical tourist attraction is the Reading Terminal Market.  See more here.

Aisles of wonderful fresh foods, flowers, and vendors with all types of foods, baked goods, etc.  It’s fun stop.  I couldn’t resist the photo of the flowers.  Maybe an upcoming painting.

Just a few more days..

For five years now I have been working on building a dog park in our community.  Finally my dream is coming true.  The Warren County Dog Park will open Tuesday, August 28, at 7 pm with a ribbon cutting.  This photo is the large dog area.  It’s huge!  From one end to the other is 2/10ths of a mile.  My dogs love it.  They have been the beta testers for the park.  🙂

The small dog enclosure is 3/4 acre.

We can’t wait for it to open.  Read more about it in this article.

Yesterday afternoon at out Kids Painting Class we painted Lincoln.

Lincoln would love this, of course, because he loves being the center of attention!

And didn’t Logan and Sam do fabulous jobs on their paintings.

And they did this is just one hour.  WOW!

Just for a point of reference, this is the photo we used and my demo painting.  I didn’t get finished with mine yet.  But I will get to it.  🙂

As you know, I work with kids art classes on Wednesday and Thursday at 4:15 at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.  And while I attempt to  complete a painting, a still life, a landscape, etc.,  almost every week, this is what they would love to do.  Drip paintings or splatter art is one of their favorites.  This is a piece I did on wood with them several weeks ago.  They love to just drip the paint and see what happens.

Plum Jelly

I love this time of the year.  There are loads of plums on the trees at the cabin and I feel so productive when I make jelly.  Yesterday I turned out 20 jars!  This is an annual tradition for me.  Click here to read about how I did it.
