Amazingly two Van Gogh paintings that have been missing since 2002 have been recovered. They are valued at $30 million. I’m sure the Van Gogh Museum never thought they would be found. Read about it here. And you can see the press release that the Van Gogh Museum released here. Always good news to have beautiful art by amazing painters recovered.

Caravaggio was an Italian painter in Rome, Naples, and Sicily in the late 1500’s and early 1600’s. His work used dramatic lighting as well as the observation of the human state and helped to form the Baroque painting movement. He was born on this day in 1571 (some accounts say his birthday is tomorrow). Read more about him here.

Rag Quilting -An Easy Way to Learn to Sew & Quilt
Posted in Sewing, tagged Quilting, Rag Quilt, sewing on September 24, 2016| Leave a Comment »
Have you been wanting to learn to sew or quilt? We are continuing our offerings at The Studio so you can develop some “indoor hobbies” before the cooler weather sets in.
Rag quilts are the latest trend in quilting. They are a quick, fun and different type of quilt offering a refreshing break from traditional quilting!
These are perfect for anyone who wants to learn to sew because all you need to do is sew a straight line. (If you have a machine that you have been wanting to learn to use you can bring it and learn on your very own.)
And even if you have been sewing for years, this project will be a fun break and an opportunity to shake up your regular sewing. We are going to have a workshop on Sunday, October 9th at 1 pm. And here is the best part….Kelly is downsizing her fabric stash so all the fabric is included in the workshop fee PLUS the fabric kit will be cut and all ready to sew. There is a nice variety of fabric kits from which to choose or you can bring your own pre-cut fabric. (If you decide to bring your own you will be given instruction when you register on how to prepare the fabric. But the fee is the same so why not choose a pre-cut kit?)
You will learn everything to make a rag quilt without having to take an hour or so to cut everything. That means all you will have to do is sew and clip so you will have a lap throw quilt completed in about 3 hours! Great, huh??!!
Don’t you want to join us? Space is extremely limited. Only 6 students for this workshop.
FEE: $79 Click here to register
Readying for Fall

It’s time to start thinking of Fall and all the cool weather settling in. That means it’s time for more indoor hobbies like crocheting, knitting, embroidery and quilting. Interestingly, I just read this article about how these hobbies can have an impact on your health. Take a look here.
And lucky for everyone who lives in our area we are offering classes in all types of needlework. A beginning knitting class taught by the amazing fiber artist, Sandra Charles, is scheduled next month but since space is limited you may want to sign-up soon. Take a look at the information for it here.

The kids did an awesome job on their sunflower paintings yesterday. Great work!
And then, because I had on my “Bob Ross for President” Tee shirt they asked who he is. So we watched a few minutes of Bob on Netflix. They loved him…..what’s not to love about Bob Ross??!!

Once again the Temperature Blanket is up-to-date. It’s getting really long. I may make a change in the design to widen it out over the last three months. I do like how it’s coming along though.

This is the final photos from the fundraiser for The Blue Ridge Wildlife Center. (I promise.)
I don’t know why I got so many photos of Apple Blossom, the opossum but I did. Maybe because she was very cute…or maybe because she was so photogenic. Anyway, here she is in all her glory.
