The second Famous Painters Paint Party last night had us painting Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. And boy did they turn out GREAT! We all had such a fun time and these ladies went home with fabulous paintings. The next Famous Painter Party is October 27th. We’ll announce the painting we will do in a few days. I returned from my short vacation to NYC to find the Best of Winners announced. Many thanks to everyone who voted for me this year! I am so thrilled to be named “Best Local Artist” for 2015.

An amazing exhibition of John Singer Sargeant ‘s portraits of friends, other artists, and family. Many that I had not seen as they are in private collections. Here are two nice and unusual ones.
Picasso Sculpture at MOMA

We saw a fascinating sculpture exhibit of Picasso ‘s work at MOMA. It is described as ” the least familiar of Pablo Picasso’s work. It occupies the entire fourth floor of the museum and features more than 150 sculptures organized chronologically. It aims to advance the understanding of what sculpture was for Picasso and how he revolutionized its history through a lifelong commitment to constant reinvention. ”

I have been working on and off for a week or so on this large Red Wine Glass painting. It’s a commission for a friend in the city. Hoping to put maybe another touch or two on it to finish it up today. It’s acrylic on canvas measuring 15″x30″ .

We had such a fun time painting Pet Portraits last Saturday at the Paint Your Pet’s Portrait Party. We even had one pet stop by to be sure his mom did a good job on his portrait. (She did!)
