What I love best about these Garden Poles is that you can paint one in almost any theme….so you can create the perfect gift. This one, in a golf motif, is for Allen’s birthday. I found the top, a birdhouse with a golf theme, and painted the pole to go with it. It was fun to put together. Start thinking about who you need to create the perfect gift for as the holidays will be here before you know it. We have a class coming up on November 15th. You too can create the perfect gift. Click the link to see other themes that have been done recently. They are terrific….cats, horses, etc. So many ideas! Click here to register and for more info.

Once again, you can find art everywhere you go. Yesterday I was at The World Golf Hall of Fame in St Augustine, Florida, and yes, there was art!  Every class that is inducted features a painting with the inductees.  This is the first one…the class of 1974.  The art was really nice.

Each painting is displayed in a gallery that lead to another display of bronze plaques of each inductee. 20181227_181051.jpgThe museum was well done with lots of interactive displays.

Well done.

Chambers Bay Golf Course, Tacoma, WA

Chambers Bay Golf Course, Tacoma, WA

This is a painting of Chambers Bay Golf Course in Tacoma, WA.  One of my students that is a golfer wanted to paint it and we did a “Paint Along” – where I paint the same painting and demonstrate techniques I use while she paints the same image.  It’s a great learning tool to watch another painter at work.  Everyone uses their brushes differently; they mix paint differently; and the apply it differently.  There is not a right or wrong way – just different ways and you can learn something from all of them.

GolfToday in history in 1916 the PGA was formed in New York City.  And staying with our golf theme, today in 1995 The Golf Channel began on some U.S. cable systems. Four years later, the world’s first 24-hour golf network was seen in over 30,000,000 homes.  And thank goodness or Allen wouldn’t have anything to watch on TV.  🙂

I painted this last year.  It is called GOLF, oil on canvas, 8″x10″, available at Delilah’s.
