20180516_160930.jpgI had my final session with the Virginia International Academy students yesterday.  This group has been such a bright spot for me.  They have been receptive to trying new styles and techniques and have made some beautiful art.  They told me they are anxious to take it home to China this summer for their families to see.  Yesterday they wanted to paint a beach scene so we did a large canvas.  Great work!

Yesterday the international students from VIA created abstracts.  It was lots of fun and they enjoyed it.  Plus they created some terrific pieces.

The students from Virginia International Academy finished up their floral paintings we started a few weeks ago and then did a quick sunset painting yesterday.  It was a good day!

VIA Finger Paints Koi

VIA Week 2This week the VIA students painted the Koi Fish Pond using both brush and fingers.  We are continuing to explore different types and methods of painting.  (You can read more about this group here.)

The Virginia International Academy students painted this little still life this week.  We have been working on a variety of subjects and styles since they started painting at The Studio.  They are doing beautiful work!

Over the past few weeks I have been working with students from the Virginia International Academy.  VIA is full immersion boarding school for ESL high school students preparing them to enter mainstream academic programs. (You can read more about it here).  These students want to go on to study some form of art eventually so they come to The Studio for lessons for 10 weeks while attending VIA.  They did a fabulous job on our painting of this craggy old tree.
