Creative Journaling

One of the hardest things for most creative people is coming up with and developing ideas for their art or writing.  For others it is condensing the many ideas they have into a manageable series.

Much has been written about how to develop a process to help with this problem.  What I find that works for me is Art Journaling.  For me it involves writing, sketching, and listing among other things.

If you are creative and want to learn more about managing it we have a workshop that is just for you.  Come learn and share and get started managing your creativity.  For more information and to register click here.

Paper Sunflower

20160913_080118.jpgHere is the “Painting with Paper” Sunflower that I made at the class at The Studio this past Sunday.  This type of art is so much fun…tearing paper and arranging it into something lovely.  Denise has agreed to come back on Sunday, October 16th to teach another one so mark your calendars now!

Painting with Paper

We had a “Painting with Paper” class at The Studio yesterday and so many people created beautiful art.  We had flowers and fish and elephants and buffaloes and foxes and roosters and more!  What a fun day.

paper-paintig-3Denise Kupiszewski from The Mud Peddler in Shepherdstown came to teach us this fun form of art.  And the good news is she agreed to come back next month so if you missed out this time you still have an opportunity.  Keep an eye out on The Studio calendar for the next class as well as other great classes coming up.  Click here for the schedule.

A Treat to See!

pet-portraits-hebb-arnold A few weeks ago I had a Paint Party in Winchester for a large group.  (You can see that here.)  During the party two of the painters reminded me that they had come to The Studio to a private Paint Your Pet’s Portrait Party a few months before and they shared with me this photo of the paintings they did with their beloved dog models.  I LOVE IT!!!!!  It is so much fun for me to help people create things they like.  Aren’t these wonderful???!!!!

The next open Paint Your Pet’s Portrait Party is October 15th.  Learn more about it here.

Fall Is Upon Us

Fall is arriving quickly so our painting for the 1st Saturday Paint Party on October 1st will of course, be fallish!  You can choose from a Pumpkin Patch or a Fall Tree.  The basic image will be the same but you will be able to make it your own.  Be sure to click here to register so you will have a space in the class.  See you soon!

Mt. St. Helens

Just completed a commission that is a wedding gift.  I like how it turned out. Delivering it today.

Yesterday was 5 weeks since my knee surgery.  The recovery is going well.  I went with a procedure called Makoplasty which helped to speed recovery.  (Read more here.)  PT has been hard but worth it.  I am sure that Jed and Lincoln’s help has made all the difference in my therapy.  🙂

Patience is not my strong suit so I feel like I should be all well by now but I know I have weeks to go before I’m able to do everything again but I am well on my way.  And I am back at work-The Studio full time.

Of course, having a snake bite me during week 4 didn’t help the healing.  (That’s a whole other story!)

The Second Step…

Sandra and I worked on the second step of our project today.  We were hoping to make this a fall workshop at The Studio but it is taking so long for each step to dry that it may not be feasible to do it.  We haven’t totally given up on the idea.  We are looking for other options.  But in the meantime I’ll keep you posted on how our project turns out.

Pumpkins 5Can you guess what workshop we worked on samples for yesterday?
