At Art Camp yesterday at The we continued to study Modern art. Pablo Picasso was our focus. We painted “Child with Dove” from 1901. The girls did an amazing job on this one. We talked about how this piece was done in the beginning of his “Blue” period and that it sold in 2012 for $58 million. They said they probably wouldn’t sell their paintings. LOL! And we do get a bit messy when painting, some more so than others. This is Sloan who has been painting with me for several years. She just can’t help getting it all over her arms.

We started Modern Art Camp week for young painters ages 8-13 yesterday. We have such an exciting week planned. Our first painting featured Georgia O’Keeffe’s “Peach and Glass” from 1927. The kids did an amazing job on this one. And they even had time to create a little bonus painting of a donut with sprinkles! If you have a young person, ages 5-13, that is interested in painting be sure to check out this page with the schedule for this summer’s art camp sessions. They’ll love it!

Yesterday we had another terrific day creating art at Belle Grove in Middletown. We painted the beautiful view from the front of the mansion. There is not a bad view out of any window of the house but the view from the front porch is AMAZING. And we had 14 painters who enjoyed painting their versions of it.
Great work everyone! It was so much fun working with you. We all enjoyed it so much that we are planning to hold a few more painting events there soon. Stay tuned.

Yesterday was such a wonderful day at Belle Grove. I started out with a group painting a little wildflower painting. They were delightful and we had such a nice time.
Then it was back over in the afternoon for the “Meet the Artists” reception at the mansion. This year Belle Grove offered the art of Wayne Laws, Sally Veach and me (Kelly Walker)! It was so fun to see art in the mansion. It is still going on until close today so if you are over Middletown way you have to stop in and see it.

Over the last week we have had some new students trying their hand at painting…and they found that they love it! Judith and Emmy found that painting is a fun, relaxing hobby and painting in a class setting puts you around others who love art too. If you have ever wanted to give it a try contact us at The Studio and come see what you can do. kwalker@kellywalkerstudio.com
