Crocheted Cancer Ribbon pattern.  This intermediate class coming soon.

It’s getting cooler outside and it’s time to get out the indoor crafts and hobbies and that includes all types of needlework.  If you haven’t learned to Crochet, Knit or Embroidery  (or if you need to brush-up on your skills) you are in luck.  We have beginning classes coming up this month.  Beginning Crochet class is Tuesday, October 25th.  Beginning Knitting is Thursday, October 27th and Embroidery is Sunday October 30th.  Just click on the one you are interested in taking for more information and to register.

You know there is nothing worse than being rained or snowed in without something to do  so come on and learn to make some cool  projects.  Plus the holidays will be here in no time and handmade gifts are best.  Time to get started.

Tulip Stitch

Now that the weather is cooling off it’s time to think about picking up some needlework.  I love to crochet when it gets cold outside.  So I have been working on some ideas for crochet classes for The Studio.

Crochet Infinity

Beginner’s Class Infinity Scarf

We will have a Beginning Crochet Class on October 25th.  You can get  more information on that here.  The great thing about this class is that you will not only learn to crochet but you will actually make a beautiful infinity scarf.  Just ask some of the ladies who took this class last year.  I created a few “monsters” as they made dozens of scarves that all of their friends are now enjoying.

We will announce a few other crochet classes soon – one that will include how to work more advanced stitches and joining them like this Tulip Stitch afghan.  Watch for it.

20160806_064933.jpgNot being mobile because of this knee surgery (see yesterday morning’s post) has me catching up on several projects including the Crocheted Temperature Blanket.  I love how this thing is looking.  The last time I shared it with you was May 3rd and that was the progress of the rows through April where it looks very cool and blue/green (see that here),  but now there are so many more rows of HOT colors added for the weather we have had in July and August.

I hope you all are working on yours too and will share  your photos with us.  Here is information on making a Temperature Blanket.  It’s never too late to start!

Just finished this vintage ripple crochet throw from a pattern I found on Pinterest.  (I LOVE PINTEREST!)  It’s wonderfully bright and I like the use of double triple stitches to make the long shells.  Give it a try.  Click here to find the pattern.

Cat Cave Revisited

I worked up another “Cat Cave” recently for a friend’s cats.  I was using up some end pieces of skeins of yarn.  That is why it is multi-colored.   (See the first one I made here.)

Temp blanket thru march.jpgI am catching up on the crocheted Temperature Blanket.  It’s coming along and you can really see the temperature changes now.  The strange weather we have been having from really warm days in golds and reds to drops in temperatures the next day in greens and blues really shows up.    I’m having fun with this.  Hope yours is coming along too.  And remember if you didn’t start in January you can always begin now (Find info on how here) and backtrack to January or just make yours an April – March blanket.  It will be beautiful!

Crochet Temp Blanket JanuaryI had gotten so far behind on my crocheted temperature blanket.  I spent time Sunday trying to catch up.  This photo is “January”.

Remember that the temperature blanket is crocheted in rows that correspond to a key that indicates the temperature for each day.  Read more about it here.  Part of the reason I fell behind is that I didn’t like the back loop single crochet stitch that I was doing so I ripped out what I had started (you can see the start in the link above) and started over  just using a plain single crochet. I used a Bobble stitch on the day we had the big snow.   I am much happier with it now.  Maybe by tomorrow I will have  February’s rows finished.  See it’s not too late to start your own.

Another Granny Stripe

Just completed this “Granny Stripe Variation” Afghan that I started last year as a sample piece for a crochet class at The Studio.  It’s made from Red Heart Soft yarn and it is very soft.  I completed the same blanket in a bulky yarn for the class…see it here...and wanted the students to see the difference in how the stitches look in the different size yarns as well as how fast the bulky yarn works up compared to worsted weight yarn.  I like the fun color combination.  It matches the bulky one that I gave to my niece at Christmas.  She like it too!

3 hats

A Bucket Hat, a Cloche, and a Beanie

I just made these three hats for an upcoming class at The Studio on how to make the perfect hat with the perfect fit for anyone.
