Bluebells

We go to the Dog Park almost every morning and for the last week or so the Bluebells have been blooming along the path by the river leading to the park. It’s beautiful.
Of course my “kids” like to take a look and a sniff and sometimes they aren’t so gentle so flowers get smushed. So yesterday when they trampled some I picked them up and put them in a vase when we got home and took them to art class.
This is the little painting that I did inspired by the Bluebells. They are happy, sweet little flowers.
Celebrating 100 Years at Wrigley Field

Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, turns 100 today.
When asked last year while I was painting the Kickstarter project – Painted Diamonds what is my favorite ball park to go see a ball game I said Wrigley Field. If you haven’t been there you really have to go if you like baseball. It’s a ball park – not a stadium. It has an intimate feel about it. According to where you sit you may have to lean around posts to see. I love Wrigley. It’s a great old park.
Happy Birthday Wrigley!
Touched Up the Geraniums

A few days ago I posted Geraniums in the Window (see it here) and said that I needed to touch it up a little more. I did that last night. I darkened the shadow under the window and added some texture to the wall. Also, I hit the flowers with a little more light. Now it’s finished.
Free Cotton Hat Pattern

As promised here is the Cotton Hat crochet -2-. This is a simple, basic pattern that can be changed easily using different stitches. For example I have used a V-stitch on the main part of the hat on these before. Feel free to change it up.
Also, I have added a “Crochet page” to my blog. You will now see a tab at the top of the page that will take you to a tab that shows some of the crochet work I have done and many of them have patterns. Thanks for asking for them.
Geranium in the Window Sill

I got a good start on this Geranium sitting in the window sill this past week. I haven’t been able to complete it yet but hopefully I will find some time in the next few days and then I can show you a finished painting. For all my painting students – can you see what’s missing? Maybe a shadow under the window ledge? And some weathering on the walls. Heavier shadowing on the window frame…..and on and on. 😉

Yesterday I was asked to speak to a group of Girl Scouts about being a full-time artist. They were a great group of girls who toured the Blue Ridge Arts Council before our session and had several questions about art. I was working on the demonstration painting for our 1st Saturday Paint Party so they watched as I completed the flowers. They enjoyed it so much that they want to come back and do a little painting. So we will meet again later in the month!
I did finish the demo painting for this Saturday’s Paint Party and there are still a couple of seats open if you want to join us and paint this little geranium painting. Contact me today.

I have been working on new baby items for Delilah’s Art and Gifts. If you need an unusual, handmade baby gift keep this in mind. There are several fun as well as traditional items to choose from – baby cocoons perfect for those first fun photos and lovely blankets that will become that handmade piece to be passed down to the next generation. Be sure to go by Delilah’s to see them all.

A few weeks ago I did this painting as a demonstration for a kid’s art class (see that here) but I finally went back to it yesterday to finish it up. It will be at Delilah’s if you want to see it up close. 🙂
