Kids Paint Mountain Scene

Kids May 9th VIAYesterday was a busy day at The Studio.  First the VIA students painted a beautiful mountain landscape scene that will make a wonderful memory of their time in the Shenandoah Valley.  They’ll be leaving soon to go home for the summer and then back to their boarding schools.  They’ve been a wonderful group.

New Paint Parties for Easter

We just added a couple of new Paint Parties for March.  You asked for an “Adult” party for the Little Country Church that the kids painted this week so here it is.  Paint with us on Tuesday, March 20th at 6 pm.  Click here to register.

And we are always getting requests for something for really young painters to do so we have a “Kid & Me” party coming up on Saturday morning, March 17th at 10 am for kids ages 3-7 to paint with their adult.  We’ll make this cute little door hanger just in time for Easter.  Click here to register for that one.

Fun Matisse-Like Flowers

We painted a floral painting this week in the style of Matisse.  The kids got to pick their colors and they went right to work. We talked about Matisse as I get ready to go see a Matisse exhibit in Boston.  Can’t wait to see it.

Private Lessons with Kids

Back from the Cabin

Tru with Girl 1We were out at the cabin for an extended weekend.  The weather was beautiful and  I got to paint on location everyday.  A real treat!!!  I am finishing three paintings that I started out there so I will post them soon.  In the meantime I wanted to share with you Truman’s big adventure. 

When we got back from painting one day a pickup truck loaded with children (and adults) pulled up to the little pond in front of the cabin.  It is stocked with HUGE Koi fish and the people who lease cabins from the other end of the farm sometimes come down to feed the fish.  This day there were 8 children all under the age of 9 and several adults.  One little girl was more interested in Truman than feeding fish.  He sat down and she hugged him…..

And then she explained to the other children that she wanted to hug him some more.  While Truman really loved all the attention, he finally got tired and walked up to the gate to be let into the fenced yard where the other dogs were waiting rather impatiently because they were not getting hugged.

And this is how Truman looked after the truck pulled away taking his new found friends with it.  Truman, you are such a good boy!!!
