JackAnother GoatI was challenged by a friend and fellow artist to participate in the 3-A-Day Challenge where I have to post 3 paintings per day for one week on my wall on Facebook.  Today is Day 3 of the challenge.  The first day I posted three paintings that were demonstration paintings from Paint Parties and yesterday I posted 3  paintings from the Farm Animal series that I did several years ago.  The farm animals lit up the comment section…and they reminded me how much fun they were to do.  Here are the three paintings I shared.

Not sure what I will be showing for my three for today but it has been fun going back and looking at some of the older paintings that I have done.  Thanks Cindy for the challenge.

George's Goat George’s Goat, oil on canvas, 8″x6″, available for $135.  After taking the workshop last weekend on “Painting Animals” it reminded me that I need to paint more animals for the Farm Animal series that I did several years ago.  (You can see more about it here.)  Many of these have sold so I need to come up with some more of these cute faces to add to the series.  Stay tuned….next, a Llama!

I started working on this little guy last week while working at Delilah’s, an artist co-op in downtown Front Royal.  I often paint while working there on the weekends.  People seem to enjoy watching a painting come to life.

I love painting these little goats.  They are just so expressive.  This is another of Suzanne McMinn’s little guys.  If you haven’t checked out her blog yet go to www.chickensintheroad.com for some terrific fun about life on her farm.

This is how “Another Little Goat” got it’s start.

Rhett  is an oil on canvas panel measuring 6″x8″.

This is another in my Farm Animal series of paintings based on many photos of Suzanne McMinn’s animals.  You can see them at www.chickensintheroad.com .  This delightful blog of Suzanne’s draws you into her life on her farm in West Virginia where she bakes, cooks, makes candles, gathers eggs, and so many more farm chores.  It’s a very fun read.

And her pictures of the animals are adorable….

This is how the painting started.  I usually have a couple of reference photos taped to the easel so I can easily refer to them as I work.

And this is how it looks completed and framed.
