When Edouard Manet was 49 he knew he was dying. He continued working but on a smaller scale than most of his work. Over the last months of his life he painted a series of small exquisite still lifes….mostly bouquets brought to him by friends who visited him while he was sick. We will recreate some of these over the next year. We will paint the first one, “Lilacs in a Glass” on Sunday, June 29th at 2 pm. Replicating famous painters work improves and teaches us a variety of skills. Join us on this journey to explote Manet’s final works at these Famous Painter sessions. Our Famous Painter nights are some of the most fun events we do as we recreate famous paintings. At the one on June 23rd we will recreate Matisse’s beautiful Geraniums from 1915.
We channeled Georgia O’Keeffe last night as we had our Famous Painter session. We recreated this beautiful Still Life, Peach and Glass, from 1927. Don’t they look great?! Nice work ladies. Our next Famous Painter session is Tuesday, March 24th when we will paint Steinlen’s Rooster.
We had a small, brave group painting like Cezanne last night. While these look difficult they really are just a little more challenging….and we always learn so much when we push ourselves to do these famous paintings. Great work everyone! Just beautiful.
We will feature a Steinlen Cat for our next Famous Painter night on Tuesday, August 27th. Come join in for this fun evening.
