Olivia painted this beautiful Iris last weekend for her grandparents. She did a lovely job. She takes private lessons with me.
I have many young artists painters that I work with either in class (ages 7-12) or taking private lessons. Kids younger than 7 often do best with one on one instruction in art. Our young artists painted polar bears this week. You can see the photograph that we used on the wall behind Michael’s head. My friend, Jennie, took this photo while on an expedition to visit these beautiful creatures last year. She shared this photo and a couple of others with me so they kids could paint them. Good job guys!

Kaylee painted a cool picture of her brother’s truck for him as a surprise Christmas present. She said he “Loves His Truck”. So I thought his was a sweet gift for her to give. We worked on it for only a little over an hour and look what a great painting she did!

The Holiday Invitational continues at the Blue Ridge Arts Council on Main Street in Front Royal. The show features work by two teachers, Terri Nicholson and myself.
The paintings are demonstration paintings from the many classes we have taught over the last few years and they are very affordable. Consider giving art as a gift this year. Stop by and see the show.

We had the BEST weeks of Art Camp this summer. Some of you may have watched as the kids progressed with their work. We studied impressionism, post-impressionism, modern & abstract art.
This afternoon from 5-6 at the Community Center there will be a 
reception for these young artists. If you are in Front Royal and would like to stop by and join us and encourage these young artists that would be great!

A few months ago Maggie brought in this cute little stuffed toy – a dachshund with a hot dog costume on. So we photographed it and finally got around to painting it in class. If you look closely at Maggie in the photo you can see the toy on her head! This was a great lesson for the painters in shading. They all did a great job!!!

Here is Autumn with her painting of the Historic Marker that is in front of the Middle School along with the reference photo that we used for that painting. She did a fabulous job!
