Student Art

Here are the Wednesday Young Artists working so hard on their paintings.

And their hard work paid off with great results!

The Thursday Young Artists also did a great job with the blue bird.

Hollyhocks II, acrylic, 12″x 9″. framed. $135, available at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.

Hollyhocks I, acrylic 6″x4″, framed, $95

There are many demonstration paintings from art classes available currently at the Blue Ridge Arts Council during their invitational holiday show.  Stop by and check it out.  Prices start at just $25, a real bargain for original art.

Tea Bag on Black

Tea Bag on Black, acrylic on gallery wrap canvas, 6″x6″,  $45.

The Main Street Daily Grind is holding a gingerbread house event.  When you stop into the Grind please vote for mine!  I hadn’t planned to enter one but my friend, Janet, is persistent so here is my entry.

I’m sure you are shocked to find that it is “dog” themed.  The rules said it has to be eatable, but it didn’t say edible by whom!

Here is a close-up of the front.  You can see the milk bones on the roof and over the door.  There is even a note to Santa telling him that “I’ve been a good puppy all year”.  Of course, that is NOT from Lincoln.

It was a lot of fun to decorated.

Now if you are at the Daily Grind please vote for this one!  Thanks.

Tio

This is my friend Linda’s parrot named Tio.  He is a cool bird.  He loves her and rides around on her shoulder most of the time giving her kisses and hugs.  What a sweet boy!

Betty’s Cheyenne, acrylic on canvas, 12″x12″.

When I did the “Bark for the Park” series there were 48 paintings so of course, there were some breeds that I did not paint.  One was the Rottweiler.  My friend Betty loves the breed and has had several so she sent me a photo so I could paint one.  Thanks Betty.

Moon Over Mountain I & II, acrylic, 8×10 or 9×12.

The Holiday Invitational continues at the Blue Ridge Arts Council on Main Street in Front Royal.  The show features work by two teachers, Terri Nicholson and myself.

The paintings are demonstration paintings from the many classes we have taught over the last few years and they are very affordable.  Consider giving art as a gift this year.  Stop by and see the show.

Crocheted hats are available at Delilah’s.  Stop in today before the Christmas Parade and get yours.  It’s getting cold out there….cover up your head and stay warm!

The Daily Grind

The Daily Grind, acrylic on gallery wrap canvas, 10″x10″.  This is one of the paintings in the “Cup of Joe” series that is currently on display at the Daily Grind on Main Street in Front Royal.   This painting is SOLD but prints of this paintings are available at Delilah’s for $15 or by contacting kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com .

Degas’ Horses

Degas’s Horses is an acrylic measuring 11″x14″.  It is available at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.   This demonstration piece is one that I did this summer at Art Camp during famous painters week.  One way that artists over the ages have learned to paint is by copying the masters.  I simplified Degas’s painting so the kids could paint it.
