Yesterday I had two Paint Parties back to back. First, we had Pet Portraits – my favorite party! Everyone did beautiful work and have fabulous portraits of their beloved pets now.
The second party was a large group of friends getting together for a fun time and to catch up. They painted a lovely fall landscape scene.

When the weather cools I get in the mood to crochet. So I cleaned out a bag of yarn scraps and decided to make a few things that I can donate to the Animal Shelter. These are “Cat Bowls”. LOL At least I hope that cats might like to lay in these little bowls/baskets. And since I didn’t have a cat to try it out I took a photo with my sock dog. You get the idea.

Coloring Books from Royal Oak Book Store

Coloring has become the next big thing. Everyone is doing it. There are many articles on the benefits. Check out one here.
You know it’s hot when you see Coloring Books everywhere. I recently bought one at Royal Oak Book Shop on Royal Avenue in Front Royal, a wonderful little independent bookstore. I also saw this big display of coloring books and supplies at Wal-Mart. There everywhere!

We have art class for kids every Wednesday at 4:15-5:15 at The Studio on Main Street in Front Royal. And each session kids produce an amazing piece of art while learning about styles of art, color mixing and composition. Why not bring your young artist for this fun class? See more here.

I had an unplanned art lesson on Friday during the Open Studio session at The Studio. My friend, Phil, with Caledonia Bed & Breakfast sent some guests over to paint. This mother and daughter were delightful. We had a nice visit while Hannah painted this marvelous little painting. I hope to see them again when they are visiting our area. Thanks Phil for thinking of The Studio as a destination for these two.

I am working with a delightful group of international students. They love painting and are so enthusiastic about it. Over the last three weeks they produced these wonderful paintings of Van Gogh’s Starry Night, a painting that they requested to do. Can’t wait to see what they do next!
