I’ve missed several days of posting here as I was out of town for our sixth Stitch & Bitch Retreat out at Shenandoah River State Park. We always have such a great time. We sew, crochet, knit, eat, drink, share ideas and play games. The games are a highlight. We play “Strip” Poker using jelly roll strips and the winner gets a ton of them and has to make something and then share. Sometimes it’s scary to win. LOL! We played Left, Right, Center and the winner got to choose from a ton of great sewing/quilting prizes. And you can tell by the photos that there was a lot of joking and laughing going on.

There is just something about the Wonky Windmill pattern that I love. And as usual I pulled a bunch of different fabrics from the scrap box. (I have got to get rid of some of this scrap fabric!) I am happy with the way it turned out and it was really fun to make.

We have a couple of spots left for our Gingham and Hearts Quilt Workshop coming up on February 11th from 9 am – 6 pm. The great thing about this pattern is that you can apply it to many other designs. Come make this one and get some other great design ideas. And we will be applying the Quilt As You Go method…a fun way to make a quilt on a domestic machine. You have the option of registering for the class only and you will get a supply list where you can purchase your fabrics and info on what to do prepare for class. Or you can register for the class and kit and everything you need for the quilt will be provided….cut and ready to sew. Click here to register.

Don’t judge me! I love fabric….and no, there is NEVER ENOUGH FABRIC! While on vacation I found a great fabric shop that was just a couple of miles from where we were staying and I got some pretty pieces of fabric. And when I got home I needed just one more day away. I decided to make a run to the Lancaster area and do a little more fabric shopping. I may have gone overboard. LOL! I’m not worried though. I’ll use it up pretty quick. 🙂 Now to find a place to put it all.

I call this one the Builder’s Star because it was the Christmas gift I made for the “Honey Puddin’ “….and he is a builder! I wish I could have gotten a better photo of it. It’s huge….the biggest quilt I have made so far but I knew he wanted a quilt that would cover his queen size bed so this one turned out 75″x98”. I really love how these stars work together. When I chose the two stars I didn’t realize the serendipity of having a heart appear in between the two stars when I put them together. Perfect! I still think handmade gifts are the best! He LOVED it. It is really hard to make something for him without him seeing it as he comes in and out all the time as I am sewing and quilting. When he asked about what I was working on last week I told him it was a quilt for an upcoming class in January. I think he believed me because when our friend Wilma was here for Christmas Eve dinner I asked her to help me photograph a big quilt I just completed. I had to stand on a chair and still couldn’t hold it up high enough for the photo to cover it all. Allen watched this and when we finished he said he wondered if maybe he could have that quilt when I was finished with it for the class. That’s when I flipped it to the back side to show him the label (See below). Merry Christmas!
