One of our Wednesday evening art students, Leslie, reimagined Martin Johnson Heade’s Cattleya Orchid and Three Hummingbirds from 1871 and made it her own by recreating it into a collage piece. She painted each small piece seperately and then adhered it to a canvas raising it slightly. The effect is amazing! She even used small bits of moss to dangle from the upper trees. Great work Leslie. The patience you exhibited really paid off. It’s fabulous!

Barbara contacted me several weeks ago to see if I would set up a private party the day after Thanksgiving for her family and friends. Of course I would! I love private parties and it’s a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends and they get to take something home with them to remember the time spent together for a long time to come. Everyone had so much fun and were so supportive of one another. They did a fabulous job painting this winter barn scene. Great work everyone! I hope we get to paint together again soon. If you would like to set a party for your family and friends contact kwalker@kellywalkerstudios.com.

After a great deal of planning, over 20 hours of painting, and I don’t know how much paint, Dianne and I completed the mural at her home. Well, almost complete. There are a few little details that I want to add….and Dianne wants us to put a little something in the field on the Summer panel…and I want to change the summer panel a bit so I’ll share it again when we finally do finish it. We’ll get to it as soon as Thanksgiving is over. We wanted to get it as far a possible so that Dianne could share it with her family tomorrow when they come to her home for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a BIG project. The wall is 26 feet long and the height is 8 feet. Did we mention it was a big project???!!!!

The mural continues…..we have 3 panels almost done and the last one about halfway. Dianne is hoping for it to be done before Thanksgiving but between her schedule and mine it probably won’t be done quite that soon but certainly before Christmas. Here she is touching up the snow on our winter panel. We’ll post another update after our next session.
