Tropicana Field Tampa Bay Rays

Tropicana Field
Tampa Bay Rays

Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, is the 16th ball park in the series of 30.  More than half way now.  Woo Hoo!  This field is another of the domed fields.  I don’t find them as interesting to paint as the open air fields.

Paint Party JulyThe terrific thing about painting is that anyone can do it.  If you have the desire to paint,  you can learn to paint.  Paint Parties are a chance to learn something new with a great group of friends.  A little food, a little drink, a lot of laughing.  And in the end you have  a new painting.  Why don’t you get a group together for a party of your own?

Last night we had a fabulous group of painters for their second party and look at the wonderful work they did!  Super work everyone!!!  It was so much fun.  Read more about paint parties here.

Phillips LuncheonOne of the most beautiful examples of impressionism is “Luncheon of the Boating Party” painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919).  Painted in 1880-81 in oil on canvas, it was acquired by Duncan Phillips in 1923 for $125,000.  It is the anchor piece of The Phillips Collection in Washington DC.  Read more about the painting here.  The Phillips offers a cell service for hearing about some of their paintings.  You can call 202-595-1839, wait for the prompt and put in #75 to hear more about this beautiful painting.

This past weekend I spent some time at The Phillips enjoying some of the wonderful art that Phillips collected.  (Read more about The Phillips Collection here.) If you ever have an opportunity to see his collection make the time.

Phillips OutsideHoused in his wonderful old house (that has been expanded over the years) right off of DuPont Circle in DC, it offers wonderful examples of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism as well as Modern Art.  Make the trip.

U. S. Cellular Field Chicago White Sox

U. S. Cellular Field
Chicago White Sox

U. S. Cellular Field is the home of the Chicago White Sox.  It is number 14 in the series of 30 that I am painting and the only field painted as a night scene.  This field is distinguished by the “exploding scoreboard” that shoots off fireworks after a home run or a win and it is topped by spinning pinwheels.

Turner Field Atlanta Braves

Turner Field
Atlanta Braves

Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves, is the 13th field in the series of Major League Baseball parks that I have painted for the Kickstarter project.  The Braves are my team.  I grew up in Georgia and we were Braves fans.  We went to Florida for Spring Training to watch them each year.  We suffered when they had bad seasons and celebrated those good years.  And while I went to more games at Fulton County stadium than I have at the newer Turner Field I look forward to seeing more here.  It’s one of those really large stadiums that has the feel of a small baseball field.

Art Camp, Ages 5-7 with Monet's Poppies

Art Camp, Ages 5-7 with Monet’s Poppies

We had a great day of Art Camp with the young artists painting Monet’s Poppy Field.  We talked about Monet (that they like to call Money) and impressionism and they painted these fabulous paintings.  Great job!

This was the first time we have offered camp for this young age group and they were great.  How can you resist their happy faces when they show off their art.
