20140926_100913Last week at my evening adult classes I started a painting.  Sometimes when I feel that everyone is on track with their paintings I will paint during the adult art classes.  On Wednesday and Thursday I worked on “The Talking Beagle”.  It is an acrylic painting on 16″x20″ canvas.   I have always loved the way Beagles “talk”-they throw their heads back and just let go!  I love it.

This painting is about 75% finished.  I still need to get in some details and the finish the face.  I am hoping to get to that during this weeks class.

Mamie’s Tutu

Two years ago today Mamie came to live with us.  (See that here.)

She was four years old and came in like a little whirlwind.  She has some treat aggression and a bad toy aggression problem.  But after a few months all that got worked out.

Now she runs our household.  She is the littlest one but every one “minds” her.

She is very demanding….especially when it comes to playing with her toys.  She loves to fetch.  And we love her so we “fetch” a lot!

So here’s to Mamie.  We are looking forward to many, many more good years with her.

Enjoy the many faces of Mamie as we celebrate her today!!!

Lincoln is quite a character but a VERY loving little boy.

He wants nothing more than to be loved by everyone.  We have painted Lincoln several time over the years…especially in the kids class.

Birthday Pups

Birthday Pups

As my birthday week continued yesterday with my actual birthday I was humbled by the many, many birthday greetings I received from family and friends on Facebook and on my blog.  Jed and I had a terrific day starting with a great train chase at the park and ending with a fun birthday party with my Wednesday Night Art Class.  It was a terrific day.

When I got home from the morning art class these pups greeted me at the front door.  My dear friend, Linda, who knows me so well, gave these to me for my birthday gift.  They even came with name tags that say Jed, Lincoln and Mamie.  I LOVE THEM!

I am so blessed and grateful to have so many wonderful friends.  I love you guys!!!!  I am liking this whole birthday week thing.  It continues as I have plans to attend an art workshop on Saturday in the Shenandoah National Park.  I will keep you posted.  🙂

Pet Portrait Demonstration at the Library

Pet Portrait Demonstration at the Library

Last week I was asked to present a demonstration of a pet portrait at Samuel Public Library Summer Reading program.  Their theme this summer is pets so my work fit in nicely.   It was fun to paint the demo piece while talking about being a full-time artist.  I really enjoy doing this type of presentation.
