A few weeks ago we experimented with multi-media collage work at The Studio. Boy was it fun. We used burlap panels, paint, Sharpies and beautiful scrapbook papers along with ModPodge to create these simple but lovely animal works of art. The kids did great in their class with these and I enjoyed the ones I did too! Super fun.(We did some cute dogs a few weeks ago with Sophia’s private lesson too and you can see that here.) I see a Paint Party for adults doing something like this coming soon.

Painting like Cezanne
Yesterday we studied Cezanne at Art Camp and painted Apples & Pear, a still life, just like Cezanne’s. And these kids are AMAZING! Look at what a great job they all did.

And when we had a few extra minutes at the end of Monday and Tuesdays sessions we put it to good use and created a collage painting of this little bird. Beautiful!

Ibis in the Making 3
The Ibis is a long-legged wading bird with down curved bills often found in Florida. They are also known as the hurricane bird as they are generally the last to leave an area before a hurricane arrives and the first to return. I saw many of them on my recent visit to Florida but this reference photo comes from Cousin Linda who posted it recently on her Facebook page. Thanks Linda for the inspiration.

This is my friend Linda’s parrot named Tio. He is a cool bird. He loves her and rides around on her shoulder most of the time giving her kisses and hugs. What a sweet boy!

Art Camp continued yesterday at the Blue Ridge Arts Council with the young artists producing two beautiful paintings.
The first was these great blue birds.
They also painted a terrific cardinal. They will put final touches on those this morning as well as start working on their “Masterpiece”! Stay tuned….more to come.

I finally remembered to take my camera to class and get some photos of things we have been painting in the kids classes. These are the cardinals that I did last week for the Wed. and Thurs. classes. The kids really seem to enjoy painting animals. If you have a student 8 – 12 years old that would like to paint with us, email me at kwalker@doubledogdesigns to sign them up for a class.
