Horse Portrait A few weeks ago a gentleman came by The Studio asking about portraits.  He had a pretty faint photo of a horse that belongs to his daughter and he wanted it done for her birthday.  This is the horse.  I do quite a few dog portraits, even some cats but very seldom do I get to do a horse.

They were very happy with the results.

Art Camp Aug 12Summer Art Camp wrapped up yesterday with ten young painters, ages 5-7, recreating the wonderful Matisse painting – Interior with a Dog (although a couple of them made them into cats).  Great job!

We have had a wonderful summer of Art Camp Painters and will be announcing soon some dates for weekend workshops and a holiday camp.  We hope to see you all there!

My youngest group of Art Campers, ages 5-7, painted a wonderful copy of “Van Gogh’s Sprig of Almond” and what an amazing job they did!

Good work everyone.  And many thanks to my student Logan who came in to work as my assistant with this young group.  She was terrific at everything from mixing paint to opening water bottles at break!  🙂

Two weeks ago I posted about a mural that I was beginning to paint at Main Street Travel in Front Royal.  (See that here.)

Well now the mural is finished.  And here is the final look along with a recap of the project.

We decided to go with a brick window since the front window of her store is outlined in brick.  (See photo.)

The client is happy so that makes me happy!

Painted Diamonds at Comm CtrPainted Diamonds – Paintings of the MLB Parks are on display at the Warren County Community Center at 538 Villa Avenue.  It is open Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Art Camp August 7Yesterday we ended this session of Art Camp with a large Van Gogh painting.  And what a terrific job these artists did on this one!  Van Gogh’s “The Cafe Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles at Night” has lots of colors and angles and these kid’s paintings are outstanding.  Great, great job!!!

There is only one session of Art Camp left.  It’s next Monday-Tuesday, August 11-12 for ages 5-7.

Art Camp August 6 Yesterday we painted our versions of Mary Cassatt’s Lilacs in the Window.  Beautiful work kids!

Today is our final day of camp and we will be painting a Van Gogh!  Tune in tomorrow to see how it turns out!

Art Camp continued yesterday with us studying Edouard Manet.  We painted a portion of “The Railway”.  We selected the inset of the puppy napping in the woman’s lap.  Great job kids!!!
