Hilton Head Marsh

This is a painting that I did a few years ago while at Hilton Head.  I’m looking forward to being there again this week and having some time to go out and paint!

After 8 1/2 years going to this little cabin in West Virginia we have given it up.  Now with the off-leash dog park here in town we don’t need to go to the cabin for the dogs to run off the leash.  It was a perfect relaxing little spot that I have loved.

It was an amazing place to paint both inside and out around the farm.  I have many wonderful memories of days out painting with my dogs running around playing.  Today I will load the last of our things and bring them home.  Goodby Little White House.

Painting Minatures

Last night at our adult painting class we worked on miniature paintings.  This is the time of year we like to work on these because they make great Christmas gifts for friends.  Here are three that I did:  (Top-Bottom:  A View of Signal Knob, oil, 3″x5″;  The Little Shed, oil, 3″x 5″; AnotherView of Signal Knob, oil, 4″x6″.)  Interested in miniatures for gifts?  Contact kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com

My morning routine involves getting a cup of coffee and heading to the computer to write my daily post for this blog.  Since Mamie arrived it has been harder and harder to do quickly because her morning routine involves playing with a squeaky toy.  And she is very persistent.  She will place the toy at your feet and look up with those eyes.  And if you don’t keep picking it up and throwing it for her she will politely place it in your lap.  I guess that’s the terrier in her.  Did I mention she’s very persistent???!!!

Anyone Can Paint

I was asked to speak and do a demonstration painting for the Front Royal Christian Women’s Connection at Shenandoah Country Club last week.  Their theme for the month was “Anyone Can Paint”.  And I was thrilled they invited me to share.  I had 15 minutes to do this little painting and to talk about how I got started painting.  As you know I am always telling people that all they need to paint is desire.  I really think anyone who is interested in painting can do it.  And that is why I love teaching and helping people develop their desire to paint.  If you’d like to try it contact kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com for more info or check it out here.

I painted this little snowman on an antique sled for the upcoming Deck the Halls at the Blue Ridge Arts Council. You should come by Friday evening. There will be lots of great trees, wreathes and much more.

Wow!  One of Monet’s Water Lilies sold for over $43 million!  Read about it here.
