I worked up another “Cat Cave” recently for a friend’s cats. I was using up some end pieces of skeins of yarn. That is why it is multi-colored. (See the first one I made here.)
We had a fun afternoon at a Bridal Show Paint Party at Shenandoah Shores yesterday. What a fun way to entertain the guests. After some really delicious food we painted some little owls, the bride’s favorite animal. We had painters of all ages which made it even more fun. Great job everyone!

The best part of teaching weekly art classes is that I get to see people get excited about painting and watch their improvement. Deb just started painting with me last year and look at what a fabulous job she is doing. Great work! Keep it up, Deb.

Look at who is Mr. April in the Humane Society of Warren County’s calendar. LINCOLN! This is Lincoln’s second appearance in their calendar. He was Mr. January last year. Take a look here.
Learn more about our Humane Society here. They do great work and can use your help. Take a look at the “needs” list. Every little bit we can donate, whether a donation of money or items, really helps them to care for animals in our community. Please help!

Lauren’s painting with the subject. Photo by Lauren Hightower
Lauren did a great job at Wednesday Night Art Class painting this Swedish “Dala”horse. Her family collects them and wanted this one to hang in her kitchen. Super work Lauren!

We had a blast teaching a Paint Party for Navy Federal Credit Union staff at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley last night. (Learn more about the museum and their exhibits here.) We had a large group of overachievers so of course, the did GREAT! We painted a nice little spring valley scene with an apple tree. Since some of the attendees were visiting from Pensacola, FL they got a nice little souvenir to take home.
Terrific work everyone! And thanks for the really good time.

I am catching up on the crocheted Temperature Blanket. It’s coming along and you can really see the temperature changes now. The strange weather we have been having from really warm days in golds and reds to drops in temperatures the next day in greens and blues really shows up. I’m having fun with this. Hope yours is coming along too. And remember if you didn’t start in January you can always begin now (Find info on how here) and backtrack to January or just make yours an April – March blanket. It will be beautiful!

Yesterday was a busy day with two paint parties – one at the Holiday Inn and one at The Studio. Rice Tire from Maryland is having a retreat/convention here and invited us to have a Paint Party for their attendees spouses. We had a large and enthusiastic group. Everyone did a great job and is going home with a wonderful souvenir of their time in the Shenandoah Valley.
The afternoon saw us painting at our 1st Saturday Paint Party where we painted the third in our Four Seasons series – the Spring Tree. They looked GREAT!
Lots of beautiful art was made yesterday!
