Diamond Shoal, 1905, Winslow Homer (1836-1910)
An email from a cousin got me to looking at what is happening in Philadelphia in early April. I was delighted when I ran across an exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art featuring American Watercolors. Take a look here. Looks like a field trip is needed.

Plaza Pet Clinic staff came to paint Pet Portraits yesterday…..and paint they did! Look at their fabulous paintings. All wonderful and I can’t wait to see Leah’s tall canvas when she finishes it up. She’s a regular student at The Studio so she chose a little more challenging canvas. I know it will be great too!

I am catching up my Temperature Scarf. I completed week 2. Remember I thought I might try using different stitches each week. Well for the second week I chose a shell stitch. Since I am just trying to make it work I am having to just determine how many stitches to skip to make it fit. For this one I skipped 2 stitches and then did 5 double crochets and skipped 2 stitches and then did a single crochet. Then I repeated. Read more about the Temperature Scarf here.

We had another unusual number of kids painting at The Studio yesterday as we had our regular kid’s art class plus two groups of Home Schoolers who came to paint. What an amazing job these kids do in just an hour with a little instruction. Great work everyone!!!

Here are more photos from what I did last weekend at the Wet Felting Workshop.
What I love about this is the texture. And I still need to add a few additional details which I plan to do today with needle felting. 🙂

I took a day off yesterday to learn how to make 2D landscapes by wet felting. It was FUN!
I love learning something new and I have wanted to do this for some time. I traveled to Elkton, MD to Sarafina Fiber Art for the workshop. It’s a beautiful shop and mail order center. She has everything you need to do needle or wet felting. Take a look at her website. Her work is in the photo gallery there and it’s lovely. She also offers online tutorials to help you get started if you can’t take a workshop. But if you have the opportunity I encourage you to learn with one of the best. Thanks Sara for a wonderful day.
