Remember last week when I said I was working on a new rag quilt design? (See that here.) Well, here it is….a new pumpkin/fall design. This one is made from 80 squares. It took a little time since there are so many squares so it may be difficult to do as a class…..but maybe a full day workshop at The Studio could cover it or I have another design with just one large pumpkin that might be better for a class. What do you think?

Kid’s Sewing Camp Rag Quilts

The kids did a great job at Sewing Camp making their Rag Quilts. We had two full sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. (I’m sorry I missed two from the morning session in photo.) It kept me running keeping up with all of them but we got them done and I can’t wait to see them after they get them washed and raveled. Great work by a great group of kids! We’ve already had requests for another beginner’s session so there will be one for kids on Sunday, September 26th at 1 pm. Click here to register your young person ages 8- Teens. We even have a session for adults on Saturday September 25th at 1 pm. Click here to register for the adult session. Only two seats left for it.
12 Young People Learn to Sew

Yesterday we had two sessions of sewing camp where 12 kids learned to use a machine to sew a pillow. They also learned to hand sew as they completed the pillow after stuffing it. I am sorry I missed the photo of the first group’s pillow but we will catch them all today as they complete the Rag Quilt that they started after the pillow project yesterday. It’s so good to see that many young people want to learn to create things!

Cutting, Cutting, and Cutting Rag Quilts

I spent almost the entire day yesterday cutting rag quilts for Sewing Camp today and tomorrow for kids at The Studio. Why did it take so long? Because I cut 16 rag quilts and pillow tops……as we have 12 students and they needed a selection from which to choose. Here’s my question: How many people do you know that have enough fabric on hand at their home to be able to cut 16 quilts and pillows? That is about 120 yards of fabric! That was a LOT of cutting. Whew!!!

Finally finished a jelly roll rug that I started some time back. A lot of fun to make but a little more time consuming than anticipated. Love the way it turned out though.
