Rappahannock Paint Party Success!

Rap PP 1 The Paint Party at Rappahannock Cellars was a huge success last night. With 65 painters it is the largest paint party we have ever held. Everyone was enthusiastic and energized by their terrific paintings….and fabulous wine. It was a great combination. Thank goodness for Lauren and Michele, two of my art students, who helped me work the party. Here are some scenes from the evening. (And thanks Lauren for the panoramic shot.) We can’t wait for the next one on May 12th!

Bachelorette Party

Bach Party We had a terrific Bachelorette Party at The Studio last night. The girls came from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other parts of Virginia to celebrate the upcoming nuptials. And since the wedding will be outdoors with the mountains as a backdrop and the wedding party carrying wildflowers that is what we created.

A Barn Quilt

Lately I have been fascinated with Barn Quilts. I don’t know why but I love how they look. So I thought we might try a painting of a barn with a quilt design…and then who know, we may end up making our own barn quilt to hang on a barn or shed. Wouldn’t that be fun?! My Famous Painter Painting

I often get asked why I don’t post my paintings along with the paintings that the people at Paint Parties do while at The Studio. The answer is that I don’t often finish mine! I am usually walking around helping others put the finishing touches on their work to be sure they are satisfied with them before we wrap up the party. From time to time I get back to my canvas to finish up. I did in the case of the Famous Painter Party this week because I really like the Piet Mondrian still life that we chose to do. Here is how my painting turned out. I love the complementary blue and orange colors.

Fam Painter Feb 2017.jpg We had a terrific group of painters join us at The Studio for Famous Painter night as we recreated Dutch painter Piet Mondrian’s still life of a Plate with Oranges. Didn’t these ladies do beautiful work. I love these.
