Lavender Field in Gouache

Yesterday afternoon we had a large group of painters who were game to learn a new medium. They came to The Studio with open minds and did a great job working with gouache on paper. Beautiful work and good for you all for giving something new a try!

Bales and Bales of Hay

We love seeing big rolls of hay out in the pastures. Makes me wish we had one of these balers instead of the smaller square ones that we had on the farm I grew up on. It always makes me think of the hard, hot work of loading those square bales on the trailer and then unloading them in the barn. Really hard and hot sticky work. Open Studio Painters

We hold Open Studio every Friday from 10-1 at The Studio where artists can come and work on projects along with other painters….sharing ideas, stories and fun! From time to time I have a private student lesson during that time. This past Friday McKenzie, one of my former art campers, came to paint a beautiful landscape. McKenzie is just 10 years old….didn’t she do a great job???!!!! She loves color mixing and listens closely to instructions. Wonderful painting McKenzie! And Donna came last week to our Famous Painters session where we are recreating some of Edouard Manet’s final paintings…..all florals. She came in Friday during Open Studio to complete hers. It looks awesome…..and while it was a challenge she mastered it. Great work Donna! Our next Famous Painter comes up soon. Honeymooners Paint

We love it when visitors from out of town schedule time to paint while they are visiting the area. I got a message this week requesting space in Wednesday evenings adult art class. Katie and Jake were visiting….on their honeymoon! They had kayaked on Wednesday morning and took photos, including the two that they used of a turtle on a log and 4 ducks in a row on a rock that they painted Wednesday evening. What a great rememberence of their time in our beautiful area. Congratulations again and enjoy your art!
