You may know that we offer Kid’s Art Class every Wednesday from 4:15-5:15 for ages 7-13 but did you know that we offer private lessons for younger kids.  Here is Marie with her little painting of her pup that she did in two lessons with us.  And Sophia and brother Joey did these lovely barn paintings this week at their lesson.  Kids love creating beautiful art.  Do you have a young painter who might like to paint with us?  Send us a message and we’ll get started.  kwalker@kellywalkerstudios.com

20161017_055749.jpgWe have returned to the beautiful Whippoorwhil Manor Farm for The Studio Retreat II.  You might recall that we were here this summer for The Studio Retreat I.  (See more photos from that trip here.)  It was an awesome experience so most of the same group returned for a second go at painting and being creative  in this beautiful environment.

Lincoln and Jed love it here too.  Here they are on the porch yesterday afternoon waiting to greet the other Retreaters.  They could hardly contain themselves.  LOL –  Just two old porch dogs!  (BTW-Lincoln saw a ground hog running across the green field to the left of that red barn and I’m really glad I had a leash on him then or he would still be chasing that dang thing!)

Faye’s Beau

faye-and-beau Yesterday we painted Pet Portraits at The Studio.  I missed getting photos except I did catch Faye to get a picture of the beautiful job she did painting her pup, Beau.  He is so adorable.  This was Faye’s first visit to The Studio and I hope not the last.

We will be painting Pet  Portraits again on Saturday, November 19th and there are just 5 seats left.  Click here to learn more and register.

pet-portraits-hebb-arnold A few weeks ago I had a Paint Party in Winchester for a large group.  (You can see that here.)  During the party two of the painters reminded me that they had come to The Studio to a private Paint Your Pet’s Portrait Party a few months before and they shared with me this photo of the paintings they did with their beloved dog models.  I LOVE IT!!!!!  It is so much fun for me to help people create things they like.  Aren’t these wonderful???!!!!

The next open Paint Your Pet’s Portrait Party is October 15th.  Learn more about it here.

Bridal Shower PP 1Bridal Shower PP 3What a fun way to celebrate such a special event with friends…especially when many of these friends work at the Conservation Research Center here in Front Royal and they decide to paint Pet Portraits.  It was perfect.  And everyone laughed and enjoyed themselves so much as we celebrated the bride.  Then they left with beautiful paintings of their pets (or favorite animals because I am pretty sure that the one lady doesn’t keep a Bongo in her backyard)!

The thing I heard most prior to having surgery on my knee was to be sure, no matter what you do, that you follow the Physical Therapy regime to the letter.  Every person I spoke to about knee surgery repeated this mantra.  So, of course, I took it to heart and have been diligent about PT….doing everything they have given me to do, every time they said to do it.  No short cuts even though there have been a few times I would have liked to slack on it.  But I can’t because I have a coach that lies right beside me and watches my every move.  And there is just no way I can let him down.

The young art campers painted a “Renoir” yesterday at The Studio.  They did great on a really difficult painting.  All these young artists are terrific.  I love seeing how proud they are when their parents/grandparents have their work framed.  Keep Painting everyone!
