Fox 1Still snowed in and crocheting to pass the time.  I have had this pattern bookmarked for a long time so I finally had time to do it.  I found it on Ravelry and it’s from a crafter in Germany (Here is a link to Stephi’s page) so it had to be translated and that made it a little tricky but it turned out ok.  I love it.

Fox 3Here is my “Fake Fox Stole”.  I can remember my grandmother having a fox stole she would wear when she dressed up.  Now here is one that is a little easier on the Fox!

wp-1453546813333.jpgA “HOT” (pun intended) idea flying around the internet right now for crocheters and knitters is a temperature blanket. It’s a really “COOL” (there I go again) idea.

Here’s the concept: Choose 8-12 colors of yarn in a weight that you like. Choose a pattern that you like. One with a small stitch would be best since you are going to be crocheting one row for every day of the year. Then based on the high temperature for the day you will use the color assigned to that temp to crochet a row in your blanket. Fun, huh?!

Here is the start of mine.  Want more information to do yours (it’s never too late to start) then click here for the chart  and instructions.

Wrap in Thick YarnHere is another option for the Mobius Wrap/Cowl class coming up.  This sample was made using bulky yarn and a loose net style stitch.  The great thing about this wrap pattern is that there are so many options for making it.

Debs Blnkt

Deb’s Beautiful Blanket

Now you have a good excuse for all the crocheting you are doing!  It’s good for your health.  🙂

Take a look at this interesting article from Red Heart  that describes some of the many benefits of crocheting and knitting.  Here is an excerpt:   “Relaxed, repetitive motions such as the ones used in crochet and knitting can help calm down the body and the brain. Have you ever come home and sat down to work on your current project after a bad day? Not only does working on something you enjoy help, but the actual motions involved assist in creating a better mood.”

And here is Deb with the blanket she made after taking last month’s crochet class at The Studio.  (See info on that here and here.) I told you this pattern worked up fast.  Doesn’t it look GREAT?!  She came by last night to learn about weaving in the ends which she’ll get done right away but I couldn’t resist getting this great shot of her with her blanket.  Beautiful work Deb.  Keep it up!  Now on to “Popcorn and Bobbles”.

Tablecloth 2 CrochetMy friend and fellow artist, Sandra Charles, shared this article with me yesterday.  (You’ll remember Sandra as the one who made the “Cussing Jacket” and the Garden Princess with me.)

The article points out the hot new trend is not going out partying at bars with your friends but rather going out with friends to places like The Studio to learn something new inspired by our Grandparents – Granspiration!  I LOVE IT!  You have known me to talk about how my grandmothers taught me to crochet, to cook, to embroidery and more.  Did I mention that I Love This???!!!!

Crochet Hat Off White with Burg rose Crochet green slippers with rosesHere is how the short article opens.  Take a look. :  The New Trend You And Your Granny Will Love  –  We’re not saying drinking in your local cocktail bar is ‘out’, but now the cool kids are scheduling it around Wednesday night’s jam-making class.  Pottery, jam-making, baking and stitching. No, we’re not talking about Sunday afternoon at your nan’s house, but an evening out with the girls. That’s right, folks, granny hobbies are in – in a big way.”   Click the source link to read the entire article.

I have had a couple of requests and questions about the dog sweater pattern that I made for Lincoln a few years ago.  I am not a pattern writer but I tried to write down what I did for his sweater since so many people asked for it.  I am sharing it here again.  Remember that Lincoln is a long dog and weights about 55-60 lbs.  The side view of Jed in the blue variegated sweater shows  little more about how it looks.   Feel free to change the pattern as you need for your pet.

You can see other patterns for crocheting by clicking the Crochet tab at the top of the page.

20151224_201304Allen has 4 kitties at his warehouse that help him “work”.  I think they mainly keep the mouse population at bay and make him smile a lot.  So they all got crocheted “Cat Bowls” for Christmas.

You can see the free crochet pattern here if you want to give it a try.  Kitties love them.

Mermaid Tail with headband

Mermaid Tail with headband

Shell stitch

Shell stitch

It’s a Mermaid Tail!  All it needs is a little girl to bring it to life.

We have been seeing all sorts of mermaid and shark tails lately crocheted as “lap throws” for both kids and adults.  So here is a  mermaid version I worked up with a shell stitch to help it look like scales.  I don’t have a girl to pose with it but you get the idea.  SOLD!
