At the same Christie’s sale that saw the Monet that we talked about yesterday go for millions there was a Picasso, “Portrait of Dora Maar”, that sold for $22.5 million.
A Modigliani sold at the same auction for $17.6 million.
At that particular auction on Tuesday, Christie’s sold 47 pieces for more than $285 million!

This is the second plein air painting that I worked on while at Sassafras Farm a few weekends ago. (See the first one here.) I still have a little more to add but it’s almost done. Now that the weather is beginning to cooperate I plan to get outside to paint more.

We have been having so much fun at our Paint Parties. The one yesterday was so much fun. We painted two small works – a slice of pie and a cup of coffee. They turned out terrific. Great job everyone!
A few weeks ago we had a Birthday Paint Party and I forgot to share the photo with you so I wanted to post it now. This group requested something with a wine theme so they did a wonderful wine inspired landscape. They were wonderful. And so much fun!!!

The last few weeks I have been working on these little theme blankets. They are crocheted with crochet appliques on them. The first one has three little dogs with a tree and sun. The second features a sailboat with a school of fish, octopus and starfish. These would be great for a little person! They can be seen at Delilah’s on Main Street.
UPDATE: “Under the Sea” sold today! 5/30/14

I had a couple of free hours Saturday morning before teaching the workshop so I set up my easel and painted a little view of the lane that leads to Sassafras Farm. With all the bad weather we have had this year this is the first time I have had an opportunity to paint outside. Lane to Sassafras Farm, acrylic on canvas panel, 6″x8″, available for $95 (unframed).
