Dachshunds are wonderful dogs.

These two paintings represent our dachshund friends.

Each painting is an acrylic on canvas measuring 12″x12″.

I think Lincoln has some Wirehair Dachshund in him!  I know he’s half Robin Williams on speed. 🙂

Mastiffs are HUGE!  I love it when someone comes into the shop with big dogs that I can’t take picture of.  These mastiffs are part of the “Bark for the Park” series.  Both are acrylic on 12″x12″ canvas.  The one of the left is an English Mastiff and the one of the left is a Neapolitan.

The Neapolitan is the granddog of my friend Joan Kaye from Woodward House B&B.  She and her son were walking him one hot summer day down on Main Street and I got them to stop long enough for me to give him a bowl of water and take several photos.  What a handsome guy!

I just love the way he looks!

I started this painting of Jed last Wednesday night in Adult Art Class.  I used a photo by Sandra Patterson as my reference photo.  I just love this look.

This is the beginning.

The next night at the Thursday class I had a few more minutes to work on it.

Last night while I waited for a couple of new students for a private lesson I took a few minutes to work on Jed again.

I may decide to tweak a few things after it dries a little but for the most part he’s done.  Jed is an oil on canvas panel measuring 8″x10″.  He’s not for sale.  🙂  He will go on my wall at home joining portraits of Truman, Jeffie, Boo and Rosie.  Next I’ll have to work on Lincoln.

For some time now I have been addicted to a blog that I read everyday called “Chickens in the Road”.  It’s by a marvelous writer turned farmer about her experiences on a farm in West Virginia.  Her photographs are wonderful.  She has lots of animals and many adventures that she writes about in a way that makes you want to come back and read more.  Be sure to take a look at www.chickensintheroad.com .  (And notice that her blog is listed in my favorites links on the right column of my blog so you can click everyday and look at it from here.  I just love the internet!)

Because of her terrific photos, I have been wanting to do a series of farm animals and Suzanne McMinn, aka Chickens in the Road lady, gave me permission to use some of her photos as reference for my paintings.  So over the next few weeks I’ll be posting the Farm Animal series based on her animals.

One of my favorite animals that she talks about is Jack.  Meet Jack.

My version of Jack is an oil on canvas panel measuring 6″x8″.    How can you not love that face????!!!!!  SOLD.
