Today we wish Lincoln a Happy Adoption Day.  He has brought lots of smiles and joy to us and those who have gotten to know him.  And he has adapted to his new “work” at The Studio with enthusiasm.  I recently saw what a friend wrote about his mixed breed dog and loved it….so from now on, because Lincoln is such a funny looking little mixed breed and I get asked a lot what is he mixed with…I will say “PERFECTION”!

20190510_063923.jpgEver since we lost Jed about 6 weeks ago, Lincoln has been going to work with me at The Studio.  Lincoln is 10 years old and had never been alone so the transition to being an only  dog has been difficult for him.  The depression has been horrible.  But he does perk up on Wednesdays when he goes to class.  He likes the ladies at the morning adult class and he especially enjoys all the attention he gets at the afternoon kid’s class but he just waits for the evening adult class.

When my student, Lauren, arrives she often has with her Charlotte, her little girl, who comes in to wait for her dad to pick her up.  And Charlotte LOVES Lincoln and the feeling is mutual.  She gets right down on his level and pets and hugs him and he adores it….and her.  It’s the happiest he is all week.  This week she drew a sketch of Lincoln.  It’s my new favorite thing!!!!

On a Sunday afternoon, July 18, 2010, we went out to the shelter with Jed in tow to see a little adorable fluffy girl dog that was up for adoption.  Well, this was before we knew of Jed’s fear of girl dogs so needless to say Jed would have nothing to do with her…or her him.

So we were going to come home without a new best friend when a little fuzzy face made himself known in the next kennel over from the little girl.  We decided to take him out on a walk with Jed to see if they got along … and the rest is history.  20180430_083614.jpgThey were immediately fast friends and Lincoln settled in to our family like he had been with us forever.  We love him and his antics and today we will celebrate 8 years with Lincoln and hope for many more!FB_IMG_1521728798259.jpg

Lincoln has been waiting for this day!  He is Mr. February in the Humane Society’s calendar.  And he thinks he looks good.  He chose this photo of his with “Possum” while they were napping.  He said he’s so glad that everyone can look at him for this whole month!  🙂

Lincoln is quite a character but a VERY loving little boy.

He wants nothing more than to be loved by everyone.  We have painted Lincoln several time over the years…especially in the kids class.

Happy 5th Birthday Lincoln!

Copy of Lincoln playing with duck 2 Lincoln in the snow Lincoln and the Fish 1 Lincoln's mess 2Today is Lincoln’s Birthday!  Yes, that Lincoln and my Lincoln.  Since my Lincoln is adopted and we are not sure of his exact birthday we thought this would be the best date for him.  (We adopted him in the fall and the vet guessed that he was less than a  year old so we figured his birthday was sometime right after the first of the year.)

He has been a mess ever since we adopted him but he is our mess and we love him anyway.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINCOLN…you little stinker!

A couple of  years ago my young artists painted Lincoln’s portrait.  It is one of my favorites.  See it here.
