We had our Famous Painter session last night and we recreated Edward Hopper’s “Sailing” from 1911. Very nice work from this dedicated group of painters. Beautiful work!!!! The next Famous Painter night will be July 20th at 6 pm and we will recreate a Franz Marc “Dog Laying in the Snow”. Click here to see more and register.

Hopper Chop SueyEdward Hopper’s 1929 painting, Chop Suey, sold for a record $91.9 million yesterday.  WOW!  Known for his paintings of 20th Century life his previous high went for $40 million.  Read about the sale and see more here.

I got to spend a few hours at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City yesterday.

I love seeing the size of paintings that we see in books and then realize how large…or small they really are.

As we wind down toward the end of “Famous Painters Art Camp” week the young artists completed their Hopper painting yesterday.  They did a fantastic job with all the detail work on this one.
