We had two terrific art classes yesterday.

First, the young artists painted cantaloupe.  They did a great job!

And then the adults painted.  They are all doing great work and getting better and better all the time.  Good job everyone!!!

If you want to learn to paint or improve your painting skills, come join us on Wednesday or Thursday at 5:30 – 7 p.m. for a fun and instructive class.

This is Ordo and Dixie.  Ordo is staying with us a couple of weeks and my boys are having such fun with him.

And then this morning, our friend Dixie showed up!  She comes to visit from time to time as you can see here.

Let the play begin….

Jed just decided to stay out-of-the-way…..

Last week the kids painted watermelon slices.  They did a great job!

This is a small version of the large painting that is on display at the Daily Grind.  Hope you can get by to see it.

Also, Summer Art Camp schedule has been published.  Let me know if you are interested for your kids.  🙂

This is the last week of the “Bark for the Park” Art Show & Sale to benefit the Off-Leash Dog Park.  The Community Center is open from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. so please stop by to see the show… and support the dog park!

My favorite piece that Picasso ever made was not one of his paintings but one of his sculptures.  And it was on display at the exhibit in Richmond….The Goat.  I love it.  I’ve seen it in books for years but I wasn’t prepared for how large it was….bigger than life-size!  Fabulous!!!  If you get a chance to see this exhibit before it leaves Richmond in a few days you should go.  It’s amazing!!!

Picasso

Excited to be going to Richmond today to see the Picasso exhibit.  More about it tomorrow….

Meet Kristin.  Here she is with her very first painting.  Great, right?

And here she is with her second painting.  She’s doing great and learning so fast.

You can too.  Join us for art class on Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.

Just ask Pat.  She’ll tell you how much fun it is and how easy it is to learn.

Or ask Shelly, Heidi or Mary Lou.  They are all making great paintings in the Wednesday class.

Interested? Contact me at kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com and I can give you more information.  Come join us tonight!

Dan, Dan the Popcorn Man is an acrylic on canvas measuring 8″x10″.  This piece was commissioned by the Blue Ridge Arts Council as a gift to the organizations Volunteer of the Year.  Dan Lenz has been a big supported of BRAC, serving on the board and volunteering since the organization was founded in 1987.  He is best known for the popcorn he makes at the Gazebo Gatherings every summer.  Congratulations Dan.  Well deserved.

The Dog Park

Yesterday, Kym and I appeared on Warren County Today radio show with Mario Retrosi.  We talked about the Art Residency project with the 4th graders, the “Bark for the Park” Art Show and Sale at the Community Center, and the upcoming art shows at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.

Well, radio really works!  One  of the things I said while talking about the dog park was that if everyone who has a dog or loves dogs would just donate $20 or $25 then we would have the money we need to begin building the park.  When we came out of the studio 30 minutes later there was a wonderful lady waiting to meet me.  She heard us talking on the radio and wanted to bring a check by to donate to the park project.  You can hear us on Valley Today by clicking this link and then clicking on the Thursday, April 21 date.  http://www.theriver953online.com/page.php?page_id=41558
