Morgan's Tea Paty

Morgan’s Tea Paty

Years ago I gave one of the first large paintings that I ever did to my niece, Morgan.  I probably painted this in the early to mid 90’s.  She was a young girl at the time that I gave it to her and it hung in her room.  While visiting Brother’s family this week at their new home Morgan showed me her bedroom….and there it was, hanging on the wall.  I love that she still enjoys it all these years later!

The gift of art lasts forever!!!

The Gulfstream

Gulfstream Final

“Gulfstream”, acrylic on 12″x12″ canvas

I painted this view of a Gulfstream that Brother flies as a Christmas gift to him.  I don’t write about family much so you may not know that Brother is a retired Army aviator and now flies for a large US company’s CEO.  He was an instructor pilot for Gulfstream for many years before going to work for a private company.  He has flown since he was in his mid-teens so it has been really cool to see him do something as a career that he has always enjoyed.

When he was in Virginia on a work visit this past summer I met him at Dulles for lunch and that is when I got the photo of the new plane he was flying and I loved this composition so much that I thought why not paint it for him.

I gave it to him yesterday and I think he liked it!

Happy New Year!

wordpress-logoWORDPRESS.COM PRESENTS  –  “Life of a Daily Painter”  2014 ANNUAL REPORT

I love the year-end Annual Report from WordPress about my blog.  They put together interesting tidbits to share to show the progress over the course of the year.

Interesting that I had exactly the same number of posts in 2014 that I did in 2013 – 352.  In 2014 there were 28,708 visitors with 69,724 views.  That is up from 21,916 visitors and 56,141 views in 2013.  That’s a pretty good increase.   Looking at the referring information it appears that Pinterest and Ravelry helped to increase the numbers coming to view my blog.

There were 608 pictures uploaded; that’s about 2 pictures per day.  The busiest day of the year was March 5th with 572 views.

The most popular post viewed that day was Fort Valley Cabin complete.

The longest writing streak was 76 days from June 1st through August 15th.  And my best day for posting was Monday with 52 total posts…that means I never missed a Monday last year!

Attractions in 2014

These are the posts that got the most views in 2014.

Some of my most popular posts were written before 2014. They say that means that my writing has staying power and I should consider writing about those topics again.  Interesting that they were the crochet patterns that I wrote out last year. Guess I will have to write out more patterns that I make up!  🙂

There were people from 144 countries who viewed my blog this year up from 137 in 2013.

And this year I went over 2000 posts – a number we plan to celebrate very soon.  Thanks so much for continuing to follow and support “Life of a Daily Painter”.

A Gift of Golf

Fruit Collage 1This is a collage of the different miniature paintings of fruit that is available o choose from at our next Paint Party.  The 1st Saturday Paint Party is January 3rd at 3 pm.  We will be painting 2 miniatures-your choice!

Embroidery Machine Embroidery Machine patternsBecause I was a good girl this year, Santa brought me an embroidery machine!  I played with it a little but haven’t had time to discover everything it does yet but it is pretty amazing.  It has 70 designs programmed in to it but it also has the capability to connect to the computer to add many other designs and monograms.

Can’t wait to get back from vacation and work with it some more.

I worked with several people this month to create handmade gifts for family members.  It was a lot of fun but of course, I couldn’t post photos because we didn’t want to spoil the surprises.  But now I can share!  🙂

Diane made this lovely hand embroidered pillow for  a family member.  It’s a photo of their cute little dog.  And didn’t it turn out fabulous???!!!!  Great work Diane.  I can tell they loved it!

Merry Christmas!
