I got to play a little with free form applique this week. I have been reading about it lately and wanted to give it a try so I found this plain sweater and decided to embellish it with a little birdie. I like it. Now I want to try more.

I just finished a commission in watercolor and delivered it this week. I have put off doing it for several months as watercolor is not my favorite medium. It’s HARD! 😉
This is a house/office on North Royal Avenue and I wish I had taken a better photograph of it but I just snapped a shot at the last-minute before delivery and it was framed so there is a glass glare on it but you can get the idea here.

At Kids Class yesterday we painted a nice little winter scene. These kids did a wonderful job creating a painting they can be very proud of. Can you believe they do this in just one hour?!
Great work!

Here is a Poppy painting that I did a few weeks ago as a demonstration painting for a private Paint Party. Poppies are always a popular choice for these parties because they look great and they are fairly easy to do so all the painters can be successful.

It’s always a good day when I turn on the TV in the morning and hear Bob Ross talking about “happy little trees”.
Many of you have heard my story before but I started painting by watching Bob Ross on TV. I have always said that his gift was that he can make anyone think they can paint. He makes it look so easy. I love it that he is still on TV to inspire others to begin painting. You can catch him on CREATE channel and enjoy his happy trees and happy clouds. 🙂

Rag quilts are the latest trend in quilting. They are a quick, fun and different type of quilt offering a refreshing break from traditional quilting!
And they are perfect for anyone who wants to learn to sew because all you need to do is sew a straight line. And even if you have been sewing for years, this project will be a fun break and an opportunity to shake up your regular sewing.
We are going to have a workshop on Saturday, February 28th beginning at 10 am to make a Rag Quilt.
Don’t you want to join us? Contact kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com to sign up today. Space is extremely limited. Only 5 students for this workshop.
These are similar to the “Rag Jacket” that I made recently…same technique.
