On Wednesday and Thursday at the Kid’s Classes we painted a version of the tobacco barn that I saw on the way home from vacation on Tuesday. The kids did a GREAT job!

Catherines PossomEvery week I post photos of the kid’s art work from classes but I don’t always get photos of the work that adults are doing.  We have classes for adults on Wednesday from 10:30-Noon or 5:30-7 pm or on Thursday from 2-3:30 pm.  These classes for all level of painters….we start where you are whether you are an absolute beginner or and intermediate student.  Everyone chooses what they want to paint and we work together until it’s complete.  I love seeing the variety of subjects people choose.  Here is Catherine with her painting of a little ‘Possum that she finished yesterday.  Great work Catherine!

On the last day of a short vacation we drove home through the farmland of North Carolina where we saw  many beautiful things to paint including an old Tobacco Barn, a Tobacco Planter, a Strawberry Patch and much more. And of course, we ate Boiled Peanuts!  It was a fun trip home.

Saw some cool murals at The Meeting Place restaurant in Washington, NC on our way home.

Taking a short break from work…gathering reference photos.   This one we will paint soon!

Bachlorette PartyYesterday morning we had a terrific group of painters from Boston, New York and Baltimore celebrating an upcoming wedding painting the lovely lavender fields.  Nice work everyone…and best of luck to the Bride-To-Be, Kelley!

20170429_063112-2I only have a couple of sessions left with the students from Virginia International Academy so I gave them their choice of what to paint and they requested the evening river scene from a previous Paint Party.  They did a great job.  They’ll be leaving soon and I’m glad that we got to work with them even for a few months at The Studio.

At kid’s classes this week we painted a scene from Skyline Drive.  Nice job everyone!

Dog Team DemoI am constantly working on sample paintings for upcoming events at The Studio.  It takes a bit of time to stay ahead of what is scheduled next!  Yesterday I wrapped up a design for an upcoming Team Building session that we will be doing with the “Dog Team” from our local Humane Society.  They’ll each paint a section that will then be put together to hang as a mural at the shelter.  We did this a few years ago with the “Cat Team”. You can see that here.

At Famous Painter Night last evening we painted Monet’s Water Lilies.  And our versions turned out GREAT!  Nice job everyone.
