A week or so ago I posted about a new crochet stitch I had been doing that looks a lot like knit.  (See that post here.) It makes a beautiful fabric.  I’ve tried it in a couple of different size  yarns and I like it in all of them.  Several folks said they’d love to learn this one so we will have a class at The Studio on  October 10th.  Be sure to click here to register and join in.  Minimal crochet experience required.

It’s Done!

Belle Grove ViewYesterday I shared the beginning of a LARGE Landscape painting that we will be doing at a Paint Party at the end of the month.  Here is the finished product.  So if you have been wanting to paint a BIG canvas then this one is for you.  Register by clicking here.

I started working on a large landscape yesterday based on a photo I took at Belle Grove recently.  I got a good start but have some fine tuning to do to make it work for a paint party.  I’ve been asked to have a Paint Party with a LARGE landscape painting. I’ll share the finished version hopefully in the next day or two.

Learn to Crochet

Crocheting is a terrific hobby to develop.  I learned as a young child from my grandmother who was patient enough to teach a curious young girl.  And I’m glad she was because I have made hundreds of items over the years.  It is something I can do for a few minutes in between other things or I can sit for hours and crochet.  That is the beauty of it.  You can pick it up and put it down without any  preparation or clean-up.  And you can take most of it anywhere to do.  Stick it in a bag and crochet while in a waiting room or on a long car ride.  I LOVE IT!  If it’s time for you to learn then be sure to come to The Studio later this month and get in on the fun. We will learn to make an infinity scarf.  Click here  for more information and to register.

20170831_063509These two cute young artists painted a version of Signal Knob from a photo I took from the EDA office on Kendrick Lane recently.  Nice work girls!  The Studio currently offers class for kids every Wednesday from 4:15-5:15.  Don’t you have a young artist you want to encourage?

Yesterday was my day off.  And  what did I do?  I spent the day crocheting…working on stitches and patterns that we can use for classes at The Studio.  Yes, that is working and not a day off….but it’s fun work.  🙂   I think we have some new things that people might like to learn to do so they can get ready for fall and winter.  Keep an eye out for upcoming Crochet Classes.

Sunflower QuiltWe all love sunflowers. They are bright and happy flowers.  Why not find a way to enjoy this lovely flower year round?  Well, we did!  Take a look at this Sunflower Rag Quilt.  With a little experimentation we were able to work this one  out.  Is this a class you’d be interested in taking?20170803_072626

Kid and Me!

Parent Clild BeachWe had another great group painting at the “Kid and Me” Paint Party.  The beach scenes were awesome!  Nice work.  Keep an eye out for the next one coming up soon.

Yesterday we had our inaugural session of “Paint Your House” Paint  Party.  We had so much fun painting and some reminiscing about the homes we grew up in.  Everyone did fantastic work.  These are a little more detailed, as you can imagine, than some of the images we do at Paint Parties but they are very special.  Julie and Susan finished theirs and were very pleased.

Kim and Lauren plan to work on them again this week at art class and Open Studio as they didn’t want to rush.  Beautiful!  Thanks ladies for a fun session and thanks Lauren for the great idea!  We will be planning another one in October so watch for the date if you missed this one.

We had a fun Paint Party at Rappahannock Cellars last night painting the wonderful old barn scene that is there.  It was fun watching everyone make the design their own.  Nice work everyone!
