The trip home from ConGT was almost as exciting as the convention itself. Since we allowed a couple of days to get home so we could stop along the way that is just what we did. When we saw a sign yesterday that said Virginia Safari Park it reminded me that I had seen some photos on Facebook that friends had posted when they went there and decided we should stop and see what it was all about. It was so much fun. It’s 180 acres with over 1000 animals where you drive through a 3 mile path and can open the windows and feed the animals from buckets of feed that you purchase from the park. We laughed so hard at the silly llamas and deer trying to take the buckets from us. And we saw buffalo, long horn cattle, zebras, ostrich, giraffe, wildebeest, rhinos, and much much more. IT IS WORTH THE TRIP!

More from ConGT

Yesterday we saw images from ConGT in Clarksville, TN where Dr. Who fans came together to share their enthusiasm for the series. We saw characters from the show and many people who stayed in character all throughout the weekend.
There were food trucks with great food!
There was even a wedding of two people from Washington State who had met through their love of Dr. Who and allowed the “Doctor” to marry them in front of the attendees. And then they hopped in the Tardis and took off for their honeymoon.
But best of all there was art and good friends.
One guy won a Tardis painting that I did as a demo at the VIP reception. Turns out his young son is a big fan so all the better he won.

And seeing friends from two different states get to know one another was just so much fun for me along with getting to spend time with them all. It was a terrific weekend!

We left Clarksville yesterday to start back home from ConGT. We had a great time. It’s hard to explain exactly what it’s all about if you don’t watch Dr. Who but it’s a fun show with really fun fans….as you will see.
This is Jen with a Dalek, a character from the show that is evil. And Jen is the reason I am involved in this thing at all because she is the one who asked me to have a Dr. Who Paint Party several years ago. Thanks Jen!!!
There was a big crowd for many of the different meetings. And while it was all for the fun of “Whovians” there was a good cause too. They were raising money for the Clarksville Humane Society. WooHoo.
My friend Debbie came to the convention with me to help with the paint parties and we had our photo made with the Humane Society mascot.
There was a costume contest and even one for the kids. The Kids costumes were amazing…and I loved that the parents and kids worked together to make these wonderful garbs. Great work.
Lots of Dogs = Happy Ladies

We just returned from New York City and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. There were 11 ladies in our group.
We had a blast. I have been to the show many times but it never gets old. And it was so much fun to see the show through the eyes of people seeing it for the first time.
If you like dogs you really should go once. If going to the show is not on your “Bucket List” it should be. Add it now! It is so special to see the different breed up close and to speak to their owners or handlers about the dog and the breed….and of course, take lots of photos. Can’t wait till the next time!
And then, as soon as I got home the local “Customs Agents” went through my bags checking out all the smells of all the dogs and for treats I brought home for them! I love to see the pure bred dogs but I really missed my mutts!!!

On my final day of vacation we went to the Natural History Museum. I was pleasantly surprised by all the art that I saw there. Of course, there was loads of interesting animals and artifacts but the backdrops of many of the displays included wonderful art. Here are just a small sampling of the fabulous things that we saw on Monday.

We saw a fascinating sculpture exhibit of Picasso ‘s work at MOMA. It is described as ” the least familiar of Pablo Picasso’s work. It occupies the entire fourth floor of the museum and features more than 150 sculptures organized chronologically. It aims to advance the understanding of what sculpture was for Picasso and how he revolutionized its history through a lifelong commitment to constant reinvention. ”
