It’s the quiet before the storm….storm of sewing, that is! The Quilter’s Retreat started yesterday afternoon and while I didn’t get here till early evening I tried to catch up by sewing until 11 pm. And now, as usual, I am the first one up. I just can’t seen to sleep past 5 am. It’s kind of nice in the quiet minutes before all the machines fire up. I can’t wait to see what everyone is doing! More to come.

Our first Block of the Month groups continued yesterday working toward their sampler quilts. We are almost there as we did block #9 and #10 – the Virginia Reel and the Dutchman’s Puzzle. These were a little more challenging than some of the others we have done but as you can see everyone did great! We only have two blocks left and then we will start putting them together. I can not wait to see them come together and see how everyone’s fabric choices turn out. Stay tuned for more next month. If you are interested in giving quilting a try we have another Block of the Month group starting on June 18th. We have two seats left so register now if you would like to learn or improve your quilting skills. Click here to register.

We have several fun sewing projects coming up at The Studio soon. We love using the Shoe Bag when traveling to protect our shoes and our clothes in the suitcase. And what about this super cute Bucket Hat?! Make it in a variety of colors and make one for every member of the family! And how about these cute little zipper bags that are great for so many uses. Make one to hold your crochet hooks…or to put your loose items in your purse….or for a variety of items. You can make them in almost any size. These are terrific projects to use yourself and they make great gifts. Watch for these classes to be scheduled soon at The Studio.

Our first Block of the Month quilt is completed. At least my sample is done. The first two classes who have been making these blocks will be finishing theirs in the next couple of months. They have almost finished the blocks and will be learning how to put them together. This has been such a fun project. The “Quilt As You Go” method is a great way to learn to quilt on a domestic sewing machine. If you are interested in learning to quilt or maybe you quilt but would like to learn a new technique then this is for you. We have a new Block of the Month session starting on Saturday, June 18th. Don’t you want to join us? Check it out here and register early. We are limited to six for these classes so register early.

Back in September we started our Block of the Month classes. The two groups have been learning how to make different block designs each month. While the classes will be making number 9 and 10 this month I just finished the last two blocks so I can show them the way it will all look together at the next class. It is such a fun project and a great way to learn with others who enjoy the same type of sewing.
