Just completed this lap quilt (or wall hanging) using batiq jelly roll and other fabric from my stash. I was working on some ideas for a large applique for an upcoming class. I have another idea under the needle right now and when I complete it today I’ll post it and we will schedule the class. These are fun and give you an opportunity to make something specific to you or the person you are going to gift with your work! Watch for it!

Shannon, Becky and Paula came back to The Studio yesterday, on their Holiday off, to complete their Big Star Quilts. And look how terrific they turned out. And Paula, being the overachiever that she is, decided to make two borders around hers so that is why she has a little more to go but I know she will knock that out at home without any problem. Girls, you all did a great job. I’m so proud of you and you should be super proud too!

I know people find it hard to believe but these 6 quilters made these amazing Big Star quilts in just 2 days. We started them yesterday evenng at 5pm. We sewed until 9 last night and then came back at 10 am and sewed until 6:30 tonight. I never get tired of seeing the different color/fabric combinations. Each one unique…each one beautiful! It is quite an accomplishment to make a quilt. But to make a quilt in a day and a half….well that is something else altogether! And that is just what these 6 quilters did this weekend. We started on Friday evening and finished yesterday around 6:30. Aren’t they just amazing!!!! We used the Quilt As You Go method so these quilts are all done. Everyone did a great job with their color and fabric choices. I wish you could see them in person as they are so much prettier than in the photos. Nice work Debbie, Julie, Pat, Terry, Troy and Sherry. You ROCK!!!!!! We have another class coming up next weekend. Can’t wait to see what they do. And if you have ever wanted to learn to sew we have a class this Thursday on making a Table Runner that is beginner friendly….plus it only takes about an hour. Why not come learn to sew so there may be a quilt in your future. Click here to register for the Table Runner Class or to learn more.

Wilma just completed her sampler quilt from Class 1 of the Block of the Month sessions. It looks GREAT! She decided to make hers larger than the 12 blocks the rest of us did by duplicating some of the blocks for a total of 20. It really looks nice. Well done Wilma!!!

I saw a similar quilt to this while at the quilt show in Hampton last spring and knew I wanted to give it a try. The one there had strips of fabric for the stripes but I love a scrappy quilt so I made mine using small blocks in a variety of red and white fabrics. Theirs had Friendship stars but I love using a variety of Sawtooth Stars so I mixed mine up. I made it as a Quilt as You Go so the entire quilt was made on my Babylock Unity. I’m happy with how it turned out. I call it “Yankee Doodle”.
