Ideas for Private Parties

Christmas tree ideaI worked on a sample painting for an upcoming private party.  They asked for a simple winter night scene.  We are thinking we may add either a small cardinal or lights in the bare tree.  Did you know you can set up a private paint party for you and your friends?  It’s a great way to celebrate the holiday or have a party.  No need to worry about planning… you can just choose a date and the painting and we’ll provide a link for you to invite everyone.  Then you all come and create a marvelous work of art while enjoying some great times and laughs with friends.  Contact kwalker@kellywalkerstudios.com to arrange your party today!

Drive to Luckett’s

20171104_1153341554298602.jpgI drove over to the Old Luckett’s Store for their Fall Festival this morning.  The drive was beautiful.  I like to take little backroads and see what I can see.  Today it was a beautiful view with these llamas in the field.  We live in a lovely part of the country.  And Luckett’s was fun too!

Really Large Landscapes

Large LandscapesWe painted really large canvases at The Studio yesterday.  We’d had a request to do a landscape in a large format after we did the large abstracts.  So this is the one we did.  It’s a view of the mountain looking south from Belle Grove.  What a great job everyone did on it.  I think they would all agree that painting large is FUN!

Finished the Plein Air Sunflowers

I had a few minutes to finish the Plein Air Sunflower paintings from Monday’s Paint Out at Burnside Sunflower Farms.  (Read about that here.) Today may be another Paint Out day.  We are planning to paint at Barrel Oak Winery.  Let’s hope we can make it.  Why not come paint with us?!

Plein Air at Sunflower Farm

Yesterday I got to paint at Burnside Sunflower Farm in Haymarket.  What a treat to get to paint in plein air.

The place was really busy since it was a holiday but it was still lots of fun.   Here are some scenes from the farm along with the paintings I started.  They are about 85% done and I’ll finish them in the studio this week.

I started working on a large landscape yesterday based on a photo I took at Belle Grove recently.  I got a good start but have some fine tuning to do to make it work for a paint party.  I’ve been asked to have a Paint Party with a LARGE landscape painting. I’ll share the finished version hopefully in the next day or two.
